The number of urban telephone subscribers rose from 666.11 million to 667.19 million by the end of March. During the same period, the number of rural subscribers increased from 534.69 million to 536.65 million. In April, the monthly growth rate of urban and rural telephone subscribers was 0.16 per cent and 0.37 per cent, respectively.

In April, the total wireless (mobile and 5GFA) subscribers increased from 1,163.76 million to 1,166.43 million, which records the increase in a monthly basis of 0.23 per cent. According to data, the total wireless subscription in urban areas has increased from 632.57 million to 633.29 million, while the subscription in rural areas increased from 531.18 million to 533.14 million.

Urban and rural wireless subscription monthly growth rates have been registered at 0.11 per cent and 0.37 per cent respectively. In late March, the total television density increased from 85.04 percent to 85.19 per cent. Urban telecommunications density increased from 131.45 per cent to 131.46 per cent in late April. During the same period, rural telecommunications density increased from 59.06 per cent to 59.26 per cent.

As of April 30, 92.08 per cent of the Wireless Subscribers was with private access service providers, while two public sector company BSNL and MDNL had only 7.92 per cent of the market share. Bharathi Airtel Limited has a large number of mechanical-machine (M2M) cellular mobile connections, followed by a 53.35 per cent market share, followed by Vodafone Idea Limited. In April, 13.48 million subscribers submitted a request for mobile numbers (MNP).
