Canon PowerShot V1 Review: A powerful compact camera to capture an incredible video

After almost disappearing as a category, compact cameras are returning. Fuzifilms x100 vi Star towards photography, thanks to its good forms and advanced film emulations. And and DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 Captivated content creators are a gimbal that makes its motorized subject tracking and tough camera movements.
Now, Canon has jumped back into the compacts PowerShot V1, Wlagging-centric model that follows a six-year-old teenager G7X Mark III. It is designed to overcome opponents with a 1.4-inch 22-megapixel sensor and has other excellent features such as optical stabilization and 4K supersplald video. At the same time, when it comes to photography, this camera is a surprisingly vision.
The 16-50mm lens of V1 is good and wide, but it is slow compared to its main opponent, Sony’s ZV-1 II. And where Fuzifilm’s X100 VI Swellt and beautiful, PowerShot V1 plain and a little chonky. However, nothing is wrong from the fact that this is a powerful compact camera that suits the incredible video and images, especially in low light, and most of the creators.
Design and maintenance
Instead of going to retro like Fujifilm, Canon chose a more functional approach to the PowerShot V1 design. It is thick at 2.1 inches, if you do not add the lens a little larger than X100 VI, but it is a little light at 15.03 oz with a battery. In comparison, Sony’s ZV-1 II is just 10.3 Oun’s and 1.84 inches thick.
PowerShot has some comparison with V1 Canon’s G7X III Was heavily popular Late, but thickened due to the built -in fan and power zoom lever. Unlike G7X III, there is no popup flash in V1, but there is hotshu for external lights. Canon moved the record button from behind to a more practical position.
The silk is small, but it makes it easy to hold the rubberized surface, especially when vigning. Controls for compact are enough, but I prefer at least one dial on the top to change the settings. The camera, such as Sony’s ZV-1 II, is also good if it is a little pocket. Buttons and dials respond, but they seem a little cheaper next to Canon’s mirror models. In short, the PowerShot V1 provides solid maintenance, but not like Fuji’s offering.

Replacing the previous model’s pop-up appearance, the new completely pronounced screen is another good change. This facilitates vlagging and photography, as you can see the screen when the camera is high, low or holding your side. My only complaint is that this is a little dim when used in bright sunlight. And you can’t see it through an electronic viewfinder to get a clear view, because there is no one in PowerShot V1.
The camera has a 75 -minute 4K30P shooting on a good battery life or charge for compact at 400 shots. Mike in other important features
The creation of wlagging and content
‘V’ in PowerShot V1 is for vlagging, so let’s talk about it. To serve the best in that capacity, it uses a wide 16-50 mm equivalent lens, so you can always fit your face into the frame and even in a cut mode. However, the zoom range is also limited to capture closeups or B-roll.
Video specs for compact uses full sensor width or 4K60P video with a 1.4x crop with top-notch, sharp, supersamped 4K30p video. On top of that, you can summarize a 10-bit video when using Canon’s C-Log 3 or HDR formats. It is better than Sony’s ZV-1 II, which only provides a 10-bit selected 4K 30p and S-Log video. However, DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 will surpass two models of two models with a craped 4K up to 120 FPS, while also offering a 10-bit D-Logm or HDR video.
With its large sensor, Powershot V1 provides a sharp video and perfect, natural color rendering with the general excellence of Canon in sharp video and skin tones. C-Log 3 will significantly increase the dynamic range in sunny or controversial scenes in the C-Log 3 10-B in the Shooting, while at the same time gives you more latitudes to adjust the video in the post. And when you have to shoot inside the house or night, the camera exceeds compact opponents, demonstrating less sound at the high ISO settings.

The disadvantage of a large sensor is that a video of a video that can warp the video is more common in Sony’s 1-inch ZV-II in the 4K 30p setting. If this is anxiety, the cutting 4K0P setting will reduce the problem, as it will sample a small part of the sensor.
Warming is not a problem with this camera, thanks to the built -in fan. I have never seen a sign of heat-related shutdown while using PowerShot V1 with a temperature threshold setting at “High”.
The crucial feature for autofocus vlagging and PowerShot V1 is well competed against Sony’s ZV-1 II, thanks to its upgrade processor. It is also locked on faster moving matters and on the eye and facial, subject detection for animals and vehicles, all work well.
ZV-1 II only provides electronic video stabilization, marrying 5-stop optical stabilization with PowerShot V1 electronic stabilization. This means that you can shoot a soft handheld video with no effect on the quality of the film or start e-stabilization to other challenge scenes. However, DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 does not have any camera with any camera, which has a built-in 3-axis gimbal.
The audio in PowerShot V1 is also a plus because it provides Mike and Headphone Jacks, but there is no headphone port in ZV-1 II. Canon’s model also has a good built-in stereo mike and comes with the Hotshu-attached wind muff.

Powershot V1 photos are also very capable of vigna. In fact, it is a special 22.4MP, 1.4-inch sensor and canon’s latest design X image processor in both image quality and speed for power auto focus and AI functions.
You can burn the explosions up to 30 FPS in electronic mode and 15 FPS with a mechanical shutter (and yes, it has a mechanical shutter, which is very rare for compact). It makes one of the fastest compacts available. Compared to the X100 VI can hit at 25 fps, but the ZV-1 II is limited to 15 fps. Osmo Pocket 3, at the same time, can take photos but is really designed for the video.
The high speed of PowerShot V1 is backed up by the dual pixel II Focus System, which provides a majority of sharp photos, which gives the company’s latest AI tech for face and eye-tech. Similar to recent models, camera also provides AI subject detection for animals, vehicles, planes and more.
PowerShot V1 reduces the blur with Sony’s ZV-1 II with its built-in 5-stop optical stabilization. It allowed me to remove the shots from the eighth, and sometimes even one -third of the second, it obscures the backgrounds when keeping the front sharpness.
The trouble with most compact cameras is that they can take good photos in well -lit conditions but start to fall into low light. Not so in the case of PowerShot V1. The larger 1.4-inch sensor is very close to two quantities of micro-four, so it provides up to 6400 clean images, which can be maintained by ISO 12800.
The beauty of Canon Cameras is that you get a great blessing of images that look great directly from the camera, especially with skin tones-starts. JPEG images have a good balance of sharpening and noise reduction, but raw photos increase the dynamic range in tricky shooting conditions and give you more space when editing in the lightroom.
Wrap-up

I can see what cannon is going on with the Canon 900 PowerShot V1. It effectively defeats its main compact vlagging opponent Sony’s ZV-1 II by providing a large sensor, optical stabilization and more video options for the same price. And it appeals to DJI’s Osmo Pocket 3 for hybrid shooters, as it can perform photography tasks well at the same time capturing a high-quality video.
The problem is that it is still mainly the main Wlagging camera and many content creators have left this kind of compact model in favor of Osmo Pocket 3. This is because the Pocket 3 motorized camera offers unique features such as tracking and superior three-axis gimbal. It is attached to DJI’s famous MIC 2 and MIC mini wireless microphones, which is another big benefit. At the same time, PowerShot V1 has a very basic design, so it may not appeal to buyers looking for beautiful something like X100 VI.
At the end of the day, PowerShot will be a hit, as it offers when it comes to video and photo quality-especially depending on the current popularity of the action G7X III. Of course, I recommend it by Sony’s ZV-1 II, especially if you are looking for a hybrid camera like a double duty.
