The good news of buying monitors is that there is never a lot of choice, there are many options for every type of use from productivity to content creation. The problem is that it is challenging that all that choice is best for your special needs and the best for the budget.

Items to be considered before buying the monitor
Type of panel
Cheap monitors are still TN (twisted nematic), which are perfect for gamers or office use. VA (vertical alignment) monitors are also relatively cheap, while at the same time provide a good brightness and high contrast ratio. However, content creators find that LCD and IPS monitors (switching on flight) provide better color accuracy, pixel density, image quality and viewing angles.
If the maximum brightness is important, the quantum dot LCD display is the way to go – they usually appear on large displays. OLED monitors are now available and provide the best blacks and color reproduction, but they have no LED or quantum dot displays. In addition, they are expensive. The latest type of OLED monitor called QD-ULED from Samsung is now common in gaming monitors. The most important advantage is that it is very bright, and recent models hit 1,000 nits+ maximum illumination.
Minileds are now widely used in high-end displays. They are similar to quantum dot tech, but as the name suggests, it uses small LED diodes with a diameter of 0.2 mm. As such, manufacturers can pack three times more LEDs with more local dimmed zones, offer deep black people, and is a good contrast.
Screen size, resolution and display format
The 24-inch displays are more or less authentic (and are still useful for basic computing), 27-, 32-, 34- and 42-inch displays are also popular for entertainment, content creation and gaming.
Almost every monitor was 16: 9, but now it is possible to find 16:10 and other exotic appearance shapes. On the gaming and entertainment side, we are also looking for curved and ultravaid monitors with aspect proportions such as 21: 9. If you decide to buy an ultravaid display, remember that the 30-inch 21: 9 model is the equivalent of a 24-inch monitor, so you will end with a smaller appearance than you have torn.
The 4K monitor is almost mandatory for content creators, and some people go up to 5K or 8K. However, keep in mind that you need a very powerful computer with a good graphics card to drive all those sharp pixels. And 4K resolution should be attached to 27 inches and more of the screen size or between 1440p you do not notice much difference. At the same time, I can’t get a model of 27 inches except 4K, because if you are working close to the show you will start looking for pixellation.
A new category to be considered Portable monitors Designed to carry and use with laptops. They usually come in 13-15 inches to 1080p conclusions and sizes. They usually have a light kickband-type support, which folds to keep things compact.
HDR
Adds mobility to hdr entertainment and gaming – but be careful before jumping. Some monitors that claim HDR on their marketing equipment are not even in line with the base standard. To make sure the show meets the minimum HDR specs, you want to choose one with a displayhDR rating with each range that prescribes maximum brightness in the NITS.
However, the lack of illumination of the lowest displayhDR 400 and 500 ranges, disappointing you with washed black people and medium color reproduction. If you can bear it, the best monitor displayhDR 600, 1000 or True Block 400, True Black 500 and True Block 600.
When televisions usually offer HDR10 and Dolby Vision or HDR10+, most PC monitors support only some (very expensive) models, rather than the HDR10 standard. It does not matter for content creation or gaming, but it does not appear to be HDR streaming punch in Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other services. In addition, the best gaming monitors usually support HDR600 (and more) with a few exceptions – more than content creation monitors.
Refreshing rate
Refresh rate is an important feature, especially in gaming monitors. The minimum minimum of 60Hz, and 80Hz and high refreshing rates are very easy on the eyes these days. However, most 4K displays with very rare exceptions are topped at 60Hz and only supports the HDMI 2.0 spec only at 60Hz, so you need at least a displayport 1.4 (4K at 120Hz) or HDMI 2.1. The latter is now available in many monitors, especially on gaming displays. However, this is only supported by the latest Enviad RTX 3000- and 4000-Series, AMD RX 6000-Series GPUs.
Inputs
There are three types of modern appearance inputs: Thunder Bolt, Displayport and HDMI. Most monitors built for PCs come with the next two, but some selected (usually built for Max) use Thunderbolt. To add confusion, USB-C ports may be Thunderbolt 3 and by extension, displayport may be compatible with the display, so you may need a thunderbolt or display cable adapter for a USB-C.
A bit depth of color
Serious content creators should consider a more expensive 10-bit monitor that can display billions of colors. If the budget is a problem, you can go for an 8-bit panel, which can duplicate billions of colors through dietarying (often referred to as “8-bit + FRC”). For entertainment or business purposes, the usual 8-bit monitor that can display millions of colors is fine.
Color gamut
The other aspect of the color is the gameplay. It expresses the range of colors that can reproduce and not just the number of colors. Very good monitors these days can cover the SRGB and REC.709 gamuts (designed for photos and video respectively). For more demanding work, however, you seek one that can reproduce modern gamuts that are more demanding, such as Adaberg, DCI-P3 and Rec.2020 gamuts, which have a wide range of colors. The latter two are often used for film projection and HDR.
