COP30: Senators in Belem make a technical visit

A. The Environment Commission of Federal Senate (CMA) On Tuesday (29), on Tuesday (29) approved an application for a technical visit to the Belem, hosted by Climate Change (COP30) on the 30th United Nations meeting.
The attention of the Committee, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Fabiano Condarato (PT-ES), is aimed at personally adopting preparations for the largest climate program on the planet.
In justifying the request, the Senator emphasized the importance of the COP30 to Brazil, especially in the event of world weather emergency.
“The COP30’s organizational commitment, environmental responsibility and impeccable logistics company will be an international performance. Parliament must fulfill its supervisory role and make sure that the country’s commitments are fulfilled with transparency and intensity.”
According to him, this visit allows a more accurate technical evaluation of progress in the Para capital. In addition, the Senators must meet with local authorities, experts and civil society representatives to discuss the progress and challenges of the event planning.
The CMA pointed out that the preparations are basic to adapt to the principles of sustainability, environmental justice and social inclusion.
“It is our character to judge that it is a policeman with Amazon’s face: different, plural, forest people and the future of the planet,” said Cantarato.
What is COP30?
The COP30 will take place in Belem on November 2025, which will be the first edition of a headquarters on Brazilian Amazon.
The event is likely to participate in over 30,000 people, including scientists, domestic leaders, environmentalists, environmentalists, entrepreneurs and civil society representatives around the world.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) is conducted by the COP30 global warming, to reduce the greenhouse air emissions and discuss the concrete measures to strengthen the weather adaptation and financing procedures.
Preparations
Since the official announcement of the headquarters in 2023, the Federal Government, in partnership with the Para and Belem City Hall, promotes a series of measures to prepare the city’s infrastructure.
The main axis include urban consciousness, sanitation, connectivity, public safety and hotel capacity. The capital of Para has already invested over 4.5 billion.
In addition to structural tasks, Brazil works in building a strong climate agenda that reflects the country’s commitments to constant development with energy transformation, reduction of forestry and social justice.
The Date of Senators is still determined, but it is expected to be held in the coming months before the COP30.
