Banu Mushtak wins International Booker Prize: Writer, activist and Banu Mushtak’s short story ‘Heart Lamb’ became the first Kannada book to win the Valuable International Booker Award in London on Tuesday night. Mushtak described his success as a success of diversity when he won the award with her translator Deepa Pasti at a ceremony in Tate Modern, which translated from Kannada to English.
The works of Mushtak, listed in six books around the world, attracted judges due to the fun, vibrant, speech language, fierce and sharp ‘style depicting family and social tensions.
The award was announced in London on Tuesday, and the prize money will share 50,000 pounds, Banu Mushtak and Deepa prize money.
Mushtak said, “This book is not always small, but from the belief that every book in the bravery of human experience has the overall burden.” “In the world that often tries to separate us, literature is one of the most holy places that lost, where we can live in mind, even if it is only a few sides,” he said.

The International Booker Award, the head of the 2025 judges, said, “This list is a celebration of fiction translated as a medium for important and wonderful contacts about humanity. This brain asks us what can happen to us, or how we can mourn, worship or survive. They provide these questions complicated, sometimes pessimistic, and sometimes basically confident answers.
