How to answer calls on my iPhone with my voice?

In August last August, my best friend asked me how her neighbor could set her iPhone so that she could answer it without taking it. The neighbors have multiple sclerosis (MS), and over time, both hands have lost capacity. Some Google searches I have revealed So far From Alone In my confusion. I asked Apple For some advice. Here’s what I said:
Q: “My friend has developed MS and has some (very little) control over one of her hands. She doesn’t really press the screen or buttons. When she receives a call, she can ask Siri or to answer the iPhone or reject her My research.
I have also seen in access settings for voice control and there is a way to answer all incoming calls after a set time. But due to privacy problems and spam calls, it is not an ideal solution.
I wonder if you know any way to answer the voice command for incoming calls? ”
Ans: Apple responded, but unfortunately the solution… complicated. First I put your iPhone with a voice control, as it provides a somewhat effective alternative. But you should read the steps for a few exceptions.
How to use voice control on the iPhone to answer calls
Before we start, make sure your phone runs iOS 13 or later. You can also use voice control in iPads or iPod touch (if you still have one). When setting up voice control, make sure you are connected to the Internet to download the necessary files and recommend connecting to the Apple Wi-Fi before you turn on the voice control before you turn on. When all is complete, proceed with the following steps.
Open Settings App and find Access Settings. It is in the second group of less options than “General”. You can also search for “access”.
Select “Voice Control,” It is listed in the “Physical and Mobility” section.
Turn on the Voice Control By pressing or slipping toggle next to it, and, in some cases, wait until the download is complete. If you have already started voice control, you can also ask Siri “Turn on Voice Control”.
Once the feature is on, you will see that there are fewer numbers around your screen next to key items. Your microphone is now And listening to your iPhone for your commands.
Read the number next to what you want to trigger. If you follow this guide, you can say “one” to return to the access setting menu.
Tell me that “show me what to say” For a detailed list of things you can do. You can Use commands such as “swipe down” or “move down” To scroll through the pages. Remember that “swipe up” is scrolling down and scrolls up the “swipe down”. The system continues to identify your touch inputs.
When the call comes, read the number next to the answer option. From the lock screen, this is the number of “five” in my experience. When my phone is unlocked, the number of accepting the call is “six”, but “five” rejects it.
Voice control is not perfect
As you can see from that seventh step, the voice control is complicated. You should be in the eyes of your screen to see the labels and tell you the wrong number can hang an accidental call. You can Say “show names” to display words Instead of the numbers in the labels, but in this case you need to know to press “Press” before each label. This means that when the call comes, you can say “tap answer” or label to suit the action you want.
I would like to point out that numerical labels do not look stable in all applications (the search bar on the top of the chats on WhatsApp, for example, is not attached to my experience). Occasionally, the names of the labels are also selected strangely, the word attached to my widget for my self-conservation app is just “picture”. It also takes time to increase contact with voice control and to learn all available actions.
I found that the system was slowing down, and it was sometimes a noticeable delay before the command was entered and maintained as “Swipe left”. In my first few attempts, I thought my iPhone did not listen to me and repeat the instructions, instead of swiping by two pages. I am using Apple’s latest flagship iPhone 16 Pro, so I’m on an old, slow device.
Although we could achieve a semi -effective approach with the voice control workcround, it didn’t really solve the problem of my friend’s neighbors.
How to answer or reject the calls with Siri
I have now found that there is a way to answer the guide and answer the calls with Siri, or one I have ever missed in August 2024. Regardless, I have been able to test in some different scenes today and it is certainly more convenient, not without its limitations.
Go to Siri Settings On your phone. You can find it by searching for “Siri” in your settings app or by scrolling you “Siri” or “Apple Intelligence & Siri”.
Make sure the setting is Allow your iPhone to hear for “Siri” or “Hey Siri” Is. If you run the latest version of iOS in iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro, it will be Talk & Type Siri > “Hey Siri” Or “Siri” or “Hey Siri” (Whatever you prefer, as long as it is “off”). In the versions of old iPhones or iOS, it will be Talk to Siri > “Hey Siri” Or “Siri” or “Hey Siri”
“Call Hong up” If you want to end the call with a voice command during conversation. Otherwise, you have to wait until you hang the other party. Note: Call Hong Up works only on phone and facetime calls, not by third -party applications such as WhatsApp or Telegram.
When the call comes, say “Siri, answer” or “Hey Siri, answer” To accept. “Siri, reject the call”. In my test, “Siri, declining” did not work, but “Siri, refuse to call”.
I was able to use this method not only by phone or facetime, but also through third party applications to answer calls. I have been “announcing calls”, not only when the headphones or carple is connected but to do so. Along with the original ringing, I never heard or hear warnings when the call came. When I asked my friend about using this method with their neighbors, they mentioned that her speech was very influential at that time, Siri never recognizes what she says.
Access in Tech has improved but to be even better
Sadly, those neighbors passed away before we solve the problem. Although I could not solve her problem, I give a limited guidance, which I was able to compile here in hopes that it would be useful for those in a similar situation.
I have not yet tested submission on Android, but there are settings to start voice access for incoming calls on that platform and to be active during calls, where there are options to use voice commands.
Countless people share the challenges of my friend’s neighbors, who are still fighting with the user technical tools that can meet their full needs – they are temporary limits from injuries or chronic problems as a result of disability or age. Voice-based interactions that help those with physical disabilities need to be well identified as a wide range of speech obstacles, and both Google And and AppleIn addition to other major tech companiesSteps have been taken to build better models in those matters.
The memory of our frustration with the voice control seemed more timely this week, which recognized (Each May Thursday’s Thursday). We have seen it And and Declare new access features, companies like companies Were, and,, and,, and,, and,.. And and They remind us of the recently released supporting tools.
It is heartfelt to see the increased improvement in the tech designed, but it is also considered that some of these solutions are full and useful. Most of us know that some of us need some kind of auxiliary technology or do at some point in our lives. Although there are continuous improvements, there is still a lot of tech.
