The state of Bihar is a new success to give global recognition to its traditional agricultural wealth every day. Many agricultural products in the state have already got the GI tag (geographical signal), and other products are constantly trying to get this identity. In this episode, in the Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), he completed the 2024-25 target for Sabaur Registration. Similarly, three other agricultural products of Bihar-Litti-Chana, Bihar Chana and Batua Mango have been approved to officially send the GI office in Chennai for GI tagging.
Agricultural Products involved in Bihar 11 GI Registration
Bau was a big hit to turn Bihar into a ‘GI hub’. During this fiscal year, Bow and Sabaur worked towards GI registration for 30 products, of which 08 products – Malbag Rice, Patna Duhia Malda, Bihar Singhda, Sita Sindoor, Chinese Banana, Magahi Thhekua, Bihar Tilori and Bihar Tilori and Bihar Tilori and Bihar Tilori and Bihar Tilori and Bihar Tilori and Bihar. Now, with three more products accepting, all 11 agricultural products of Bihar are officially included in the GI registration process. In addition, Bow and Sabaur have successfully achieved the target for 2024-25.
The goal is to get the GI tag for more farm products of Bihar
Bav Vice Chancellor Dr. D.R. Singh said, “The Geography Index (GI) registration is a revolutionary step to identify Bihar’s specific agricultural products internationally and increase the economic well -being of farmers. This initiative strengthens our great agricultural heritage and their uniqueness in the market.” The goal is to increase the number of users of GI registered products to 1,000.
At the same time, BAU Research Director Dr Anil Kumar Singh said Bihar’s more traditional agricultural products should get GI tagging. This year’s goal was achieved, an important success to establish Bihar as a ‘GI hub’.

State farmers are prosperous by GI tag
This initiative of BAU is to empower local farmers, promote agricultural innovations and strengthen the rural economy through intellectual property conservation. The GI tagging gives new identity to specialized agricultural products in Bihar in national and international markets, which boosts farmers’ income and pledges the great agricultural heritage in the state to reach a great agricultural heritage in the state. At the same time, there is also a better market for agricultural products that have received GI tags so far.
