ílhavo: The report and accounts 2024 reveal more investment, the least debt and bets of progress without prejudice to the future

The 2024 report and its recently accredited accounts by the House of Representatives and the Municipal Association of íLhavo, a year of strong investment in the basic areas of the lives of citizens, along with the responsible and sustainable financial management.

In the report and calculations 2024, the mayor of ílhavo, Joao Campbolago, states: “In 2024, a public investment, 40 million euros, includes all the financing obtained through external funds and city equipment. Improving conditions and improving the conditions of life for all citizens, without prejudice to preserving their natural heritage.”

Through a strategic vision for the continuous development of the boycott, the municipality of ílhavo has strengthened in recent years its priority investments in the quality of families’ life.
Between 2022 and 2024, about 800,000 euros were applied to land acquisition, of which 400,000 euros were in 2024 alone. These acquisitions allowed the empowerment of building new streets, with special importance in the direct vicinity of the Jose Ferrera Pinto Basto, and Javanha Da Al -Nasiri Secondary School, with the goal of improving urban movement together for educational institutions.
Land acquisition will also be able to build new fireworks for housing, which contributes to reducing scarcity in reaching conditional housing at reasonable prices. This is the main design of social cohesion policies, directed towards inclusion, luxury and sustainability.

The support of the connected tissue also deserved special attention, reflecting a steady bet on securing the social capital of the capital. Between 2021 and 2024, municipal investment in this field grew by about 70 %, from 1.9 million to 3.2 million euros, with a highlight of the municipality’s commitment to community development, reaction and promoting active and participatory citizenship.

The municipality of ílhavo has strengthened its commitment to the protection and safety of the population, through solid cooperation with the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Fire Fire in ílhavo. During this period, about 800,000 euros were transported, aiming to support the company’s operational activity, enhance the fleet with new vehicles and finance the two permanent intervention teams. He also mentioned the signing of the cooperation protocol between the Alpha City Council, APA – Porto de Aveiro, companies installed at the Porto de Aveiro Liquid Grannes, and the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters, and will be located in 2025.

The municipality of ílhavo also confirms an active policy to enhance sport, physical activity and the quality of life, through a continuous investment in rehabilitation and the creation of sports infrastructure throughout the province. The financial responsibility of the municipality is clarified by reducing the large debt, which includes debts for suppliers and bank loan, which went from 9.2 million euros by 2021 to 3.9 million in 2024, or nearly 60 %.

Between 2022 and 2024, the total expenditures of employees reached 31.7 million euros, highlighting the commitment to the evaluation of their employees and enhancing their operational capacity.
In 2024, the amount increased to 11.8 million euros, as a result of the update of the law imposed by the law and the strengthening of the human resources structure. These measures aim to comply with legal standards only, but also to ensure better working conditions and raise the quality of services provided to the population. This strategic bet on human capital is a basic step towards building a more efficient, modern and high management.

From 2022 to 2024, regarding the global expenditures of the state, it is divided into:

• Current expenditures: 72 million euros (28 million in 2024);
• Capital expenses: 29 million euros (12 million in 2024).

This financial effort was implemented simultaneously with the policy of tax exemption for families in the province, by continuing to reduce the IMI rate – currently in the legal minimum – and the return of part of the Tax Authority for citizens, with the municipal participation rate of 4 % compared to a maximum of 5 %. In the current period of positions, these measures are translated into the kidnapping of the municipal revenues increasing by about 2 million euros in IMI and 1.5 million euros in the Tax Authority, of which 1.2 million in 2024 alone.

In this triminum, the city council recorded a gradual increase in expenditures with the urban solid waste management, with a total of 10.8 million euros during the previous period. In 2024 alone, the amount invested in this basic field reached 4.2 million euros.

Despite the context of the large demand, which is exacerbated by inflation, the need to enhance human resources and invest in new equipment, is more modern and modified on the municipal requirements today, this executive authority has not aggravated in the municipal rates, and the choice of transferring this financial effort to the population. This decision, which was taken with responsibility and feeling of duty, was preserved, despite the continuous increase in the costs needed to ensure the quality of public services.

It is important to highlight that, within the scope of this policy, the municipality of ílhavo continues this accusation in part, in other contexts, citizens must assume in other contexts. With this decision, the House of Representatives was extracted with revenues estimated at 1.5 million euros, which reduces the financial effort for families.
Consequently, the municipality reaffirms its commitment to the responsible administration, which is directed to the construction of a more fair, sustainable and supportive municipality, without prejudice to the quality of the services provided.

Regarding the total revenues of the current term, it is distributed in:

• Current revenue: 95.5 million euros (34 million in 2024);
• Capital revenue: 13 million euros (9.5 million in 2024).

Ílhavo municipality accounts reflect a strong commitment to the stability of the budget and the responsible public administration. He was able to significantly reduce debt, while enhancing priority structure and investments to develop a boycott.
This path was only possible thanks to the strict and effective management of public resources, guiding with collective attention. Maintaining accounts in balance is not just a technical goal, but rather a political duty for citizens.
