The presence of a Mexican abroad makes me feel more Mexican

I have been living abroad for almost eight years. At this time, I have come to appreciate Mexico and I think only the distance can teach you.
I left Mexico in 2015 to go to Dubai after I got a pilot with my new couple. We lived there for five years, but in 2020, Kovit -19 was forced to return to Mexico after the infection. We first settled in Quadalajara and later in Mexico. Two years later, he returned his job and we went back to Dubai.

That two -year break from our foreign experience helped to reconnect with my roots and traditions. Nevertheless, when I made me feel in Mexico, it didn’t feel me Mexican. It seemed to me that I did not have to think about my nationality as I did in Dubai.
In the two years since we returned to Dubai, I strengthened that feeling: I feel more than my true home country.
Why does this happen? Here are some of the reasons I think.
I represent my culture abroad
My mother -in -law once told me that we are the messengers of Mexico abroad: The picture we plan for us is designing the sentiment of our country.
I think it is true, to some extent, when people get in touch with me, I wish the Mexican people create their positive and friendly figure. At the back of my mind, I see where I go wherever I go, I see my Mexican identity, and try to plan a good picture of what a Mexican is. When I left my house, I wore an invisible badge that says “I Mexican”.

I don’t have this feeling at home, and think very emotionally about my nationality on a daily basis. I think my nationality marked because of returning home. I don’t have to clarify it to anyone or think about it – that’s it.
That sign is deliberately shown in some social contacts. In a multi -cultural city like Dubai, there are many nationalities, and we often say, “Where do you come from?” This is an indispensable reminder of my nationalism and culture. Because people want to connect, they will bring an event of the time they met someone from Mexico, or they ate the time they went to Mexico or a mexican meal. The country mixes with difficulty in the conversation, thus makes me feel very Mexican.
I believe that I am not alone. I think this will happen to every foreign abroad of the world, because it is common to talk about our own country, culture and food more often than we return home.
I am proud of when a foreigner is asking for appreciation of Mexico
The other day, my husband and I were eating lunch at a restaurant. There was a Swiss man, probably in his sixties, he ate the next lunch with his daughter. We started talking, he said he worked in the tourism industry and he had to travel a lot. When he asked where we were coming from, he was excited to refer to Mexico.
“I love your country,” he told us. “This is one of the rare countries of the world. It really has everything.”

We can’t help us, but we are very proud of Mexico and Mexican.
In the risk of speculating, this is not a time. Although this is a stranger about how much someone or how they love Tacos or how friendly the Mexican people is about a journey to Concon, this kind of compliments for our culture makes me incredibly proud and incredibly felt.
Returning home, among Mexican, we rarely offer or receive Mexico. If we say something well about our country, it will always follow a criticism of our government, politics, insecurity, Mexican – you name.
In any case, it is interesting how to change the perspective of our own country and proud it.
Mexican food I appreciate more
Regardless of where they are in the world, food is one thing that brings people close to home.
Since I was a young man, Encillatas may have been my favorite food – Are especially produced by my Abulita. Although I always admired and enjoyed them, it was different when I prepared and eaten them in Dubai. For some reason, in Mexico, I respect every bite rather than eating dish. Even the process of adjusting the plate – cream, lettuce and chopped onions and spraying on top of the top – comfort, own and bring back the family.

Whenever I see rare Mexican dishes in a restaurant or supermarket – I am excited – when I see Mexican Mexican food.
On the other day, in a supermarket that I had never had before, I collided with the position of Mexican food from one place, which has been a good name for the Mexican cuisine called Leela Takuviria. Two Mexican people were producing kassadillas and exchanging with Mexican Salsa. I approached and said, “Are you Mexican?” The moment he heard. Our faces burned. In this context we talked about the contradictions in the collision of Mexico, food and fellow Mexican people. After trying the sample of everything, I finished buying corn tortillas, totopose and green salsa.
It is difficult to overcome the identification incentive that comes with your roots and your own people with a foreign nation. It is difficult to think about things that you make Mexican feel.
What makes you feel more patriotic as a foreigner?
