In a country that aims at an equality and modern society, we cannot continue to perpetuate social practices and expectations that, in one way or another, delegate the entire parental responsibility in the early years of the child’s life. Even there is a rooted culture that is normalized today that the mother leaves the work early, lost when caring for day care, to conduct medical dates or be present at school parties. When the father is the assumption of this role, praise is often as if they were “helping”, when, in fact, it must be recognized only as it is: one of the parents on equal jobs and responsibilities.

The real parity in paternity and motherhood will only be achieved when rights and duties are mandatory among parents. In this context, I call for the implementation of the mandatory parents ’license, equality and non -convertible, where the father and mother enjoyed at least six months, without losing maturity, and may be extension for up to one year with low income in income. This measure should be seen as a privilege, but as a structure and a tool for social justice and human development.
Several scientific studies indicate that the presence of parents in the first year of life for a child has a positive impact on their emotional and cognitive development and relationships.
On the other hand, when the license is optional instead, the current practice continues to decrease in a way that is not proportional to women, enhancing employment and social inequality. Women often cut her career, lose their performance, accumulate physical and emotional distress and see her professional progress committed. The man, in turn, loses the opportunity to establish a deeper relationship with his child in the first months of the child’s life.
If the parents ’license is equal between the father and the mandatory mother represents a greater balance between professional and family life, it would reduce women with an impartial parental weight and allow men to be full of parenting. In addition, it will directly benefit the children, who will grow in an environment in which both parents will, from the beginning, are present equally, vigilance and care providers.
The cost argument should not interfere with the social and human value. Long -term benefits such as enhancing gender equality, childhood well -being and family cohesion for investment, which can also be considered a measure of Christmas.
If we want to combat inequality and build a balanced society, we must start with the rule of paternity and motherhood. This shift begins with a structural reform of parents ’license.
