In recent years, we have seen increasing concern about the impact of digital content on the formation of new generations. The British teenage chain, which deals with the spread of kidnappers and the impact of the Inceel community among young people, has become a cultural phenomenon and led the British government to make it free in schools and secondary schools.

This decision reflects a preventive educational approach, with the realization of ideological extremism not only in material spaces, but also in the digital universe, Portugal must follow this trend and consider similar measures, which enhances the role of education in dismantling hatred and accounts of mistakes that multiply on social networks.

Online extremism and the growth of digital women are not an isolated phenomenon, but symptoms of a deeper social problem. The Inceel community, the main theme of the series, does not arise in a cultural vacuum, which represents an extreme appearance of male frustration associated with strict sexual standards and a sense of social exclusion. Many young people, especially males, face difficulty in dealing with emotional and personal rejection processes, and finding social networks and closed forums space where these feelings are amplified by strangers. The lack of emotional and digital literacy makes them more vulnerable to hate advertising for women, which offer women as guilty of their personal difficulties, which enhances a dangerous cycle of discontent and hatred.

In Portugal, experts warn of a setback in the criteria for respecting women and an increase in the weakness of young women in the face of male dominance speeches. The National Union of Parents and many educational psychologists confirms that parents often have the tools needed to direct their children in the critical interpretation of the digital content they consume, and therefore digital literacy and emotional organization are basic ingredients that must be more explored in the education system.

The UK’s decision to integrate adolescence in the curricula reveals that the school must also learn nationality and social coexistence. It should be dealt with combating digital women in an organized manner, while implementing educational plans that encourage critical thinking and sympathy. Portugal can follow this example, as it strengthens the debate on this topic in schools, but also creating educational strategies to dismantle hate speeches and educate young people about the impact of their digital interactions.

In addition to the educational dimension, the organization of digital platforms must be enhanced. The UK has already passed a law of digital security, and imposed on social networks responsible for removing illegal content and limiting the exposure of young women, violence, or incitement to hatred. In Portugal, although there are some legislative initiatives related to combating wrong information and hate speech online, a strong normative image is effectively on digital platforms and creates effective protection mechanisms for young people.

The display of a teenage chain in British schools can be a turning point in how to face the role of the educational system in preventing extremism over the Internet. Portugal cannot ignore this reality and must be reflected in the need for general policies that enhance an approach that combines education, digital organization and psychological psychological support.
