Support from the White House towards its allies is increasingly predicted since the start of the second Trump government. This change has prompted many European leaders to question the hardness of that country’s commitment to the Atlantic solidarity.

In an exclusive interview with “Euronews”, Andrig Blancovic, Prime Minister of Croatia, highlighted the importance of continuous commitment to the United States in European affairs and in institutions such as NATO.

“I think the United States should continue to support Europe, this via Atlantic association, which is a factor of stability and peace on our continent,” said Blancovich.

“Of course, it highlights the importance of NATO, which was a guarantee of mass security for 75 years and I think it should continue.”

Despite his interest in the hesitation of American policy, Plenković expressed his confidence in the current NATO path. He pointed to the increase in defense expenditures during the coalition, including Croatia’s private investments.

Not only American military materials

When asked about NATO stability, Plenković considered that on the right track, as many countries have achieved the commitment of defense spending, such as Croatia, which invests 2.1 % of its gross domestic product and 30 % of the update, and wants to continue investing in defense materials.

Croatia has greatly expanded its acquisition strategy to include both American and European military technologies, with the aim of improving inter -operation and long -term resistance.

“We are also working hard to achieve European defense materials, not only American, but we are from a transition from Western technologies to Eastern, and yet we have increased the defense budget more than three times,” Plenković continued.

“The intention is to hit it more in the coming years, and I believe that the new white book is about defense, and the new tools prepared by the European Union are strengthening our strategic independence, capabilities, and inter -employment within the European Union.”

Croatia recently completed its 12 French -French combat team, which enhances its ability to defense. The Adriatic state has also provided 300 million euros of military aid to Ukraine since the great and fall of its country adjacent to Russia in early 2022, a measure, according to Plinkovic, both of which are a defense of Ukraine and within a broader position in the preference for European freedom.

There is no goal that puts anyone at risk

In a modern regional event, Croatia, Albania and Kosovo signed a defensive agreement to enhance military capacity and advanced technology and improve inter -operational operation through joint training.

“The goal of this agreement is that no person is at risk or his poetry threatened by anyone. Therefore, everything has been said since this agreement was signed, as we see, it is wrong and unnecessary,” says Blancovic.

However, the Triple Convention launched Serbia, which does not recognize the independence of Kosovo. Serbian authorities accused Albania and Croatia, both NATO members, of feeding the “arms race” in the Balkans. This only happens when Serbia and Hungary signed their own agreement to enhance military cooperation. Plenković does not see it as “any kind of threat to Croatia”.

Expansion against foreign influence

Plenković insisted on the need to respect the national borders and legal rules within Europe, and cited the process of integrating the European Union as a vital unification of the continent. “The European road is the glue for countries to advance in a good direction as well as repairs and benefits to citizenship.”

On the other hand, he stressed that confidence and dialogue are necessary to maintain European stability. “This is necessary for us, in addition to a honest dialogue and creation of confidence. Without confidence and a continuous dialogue, there can always be destabilizing.”
