According to a statement, it was tested in a continuous industrial oven of ceramic products, “indicating a decisive step in the transmission of energy to the sector.”
The article, which is considered a “pioneer” as “relevant technological progress towards carbon removal for the ceramic industry, is presented by partially replacing natural gas with hydrogen as a source of thermal energy in the cooking process.”
The relevant operation was implemented in a real industrial environment, in one of the continuous ovens of the factory unit, after it obtained the technical and scientific support of the partner of Portugal and Cristallaria in Portugal, as part of the PRR).
CTCV recalls that she participated from the beginning in this work in the laboratory scale tests by providing the “Hypocortic Laboratory”. In a balance, he adds that the industrial test that is made is allowed “to confirm the results obtained in advance, which indicates this energy transmission.”
In addition to the technical verification that was achieved, it was also possible to “remove various safety lessons and influence gas emissions, which are monitored online” by the team on the ground.
Rhetoric
“The success of this article is a symbolic and strategic moment for the Portuguese ceramic sector. It explains that it is possible to reconcile industrial traditions with the requirements of energy transmission and environmental sustainability.” – Inês Rondão, from CTCV.
- This initiative is part of the national strategy to promote green energy and develop innovative technologies that put Portugal as a leading company in sustainable practices in the manufacture of ceramic rooms and crystals;
- The Portguese Ecoral and Cristallaria, which is funded by PRR and the European Union through the following program, combines companies, technological centers and scientific institutions that aim to transform ceramic and glass sectors through digitization, sustainability and innovation.
