The joint initiative of the Communications, Kumuma and University of Aveiro (UA) University is part of the quantum communications infrastructure of PTQCI Project-Portuguese.

At that time, an experimental version of the “National quantum network” will be made to highlight the potential of safe and computing communication on the basis of quantum technologies.

The network consists of five knots: four located on the campus of the University of Affiro (electronics departments, communications and informatics, the Department of Physics and two buildings of it) and a fifth knot installed in Altice Labs, in Aveiro.

The statement says: “The distribution of encryption keys through quantum technology guarantees the messages of encrypted messages between different fields, which confirms its capabilities on high -resisting communication solutions to any kind of encryption attack.”

The move to “represent a great progress in building the communications infrastructure supported by quantum technology, capable of integrating into complex systems, and ensuring a high level of protection for sensitive communications. The diversity of the solution indicates its value in the maximum safety, especially for applications in the field of national defense.”

What is the PTQCI project

The PTQCI project, an abbreviation of the Portuguese quantum communication infrastructure, is an initiative of 6.8 million euros to develop and implement the quantum communications infrastructure in Portugal, according to the European quantum communications network, an initiative that seeks to stabilize safe quantitative communications throughout Europe.

With the support of the European Commission within the framework of the European Digital Program in the European Union, led by Dimos Engna and consists of a consortium that includes universities and research centers, such as the Institute of Communications, ISEL and IST, national entities such as GNS, IPQ and FCCN, and industrial entities such as Deima, Adyta, wireless and wireless communications. Like IP Telecom and Altice Labs.

Pole de Aveiro, “its main goal is to develop and implement private information and insurance services based on the use of quantitative and effective technologies.”

The team, led by Professor Armando Nolasco Pinto, is part of researchers who have a basic training in electrical engineering, computer science, physics and mathematics, who are enhancing a complementary and multi -disciplinary approach in developing a new amount of encryption protocols, in implementation and experimental evaluation, in addition to conducting system field tests. In this context, the group coordinated and actively participated in many international importance and business groups in NATO technology (IST).
