Portuguese economy with an external surplus of 535 million euros in January

It was 397 million euros less than last year. According to data from Bonco de Portugal, this homogeneous decrease comes as a result of the increase in assets and preliminary income deficits and the surplus of service balance.

The Portuguese economy demonstrated the external surplus of 535 million euros in January, according to data released this Friday, 397 million euros less than the same month last year Banco de Portugal (BDP).
According to Central Bank data, these homologous assets decrease as a result of an increase in standards and preliminary income and increased surplus of service scale.
During the first month of the year, the deficit of assets increased by 254 million euros, and the diversity of imports (302 million euros) is higher than exports (49 million euros).
At the same time, the primary income level deficit has been intensified by 223 million euros, “the European Union can arise from the lower appointment of funds to subsidized securities.”
The surplus of service balance increased by 322 million euros, mainly with “the evolution of travel and tourism balance (another 108 million euros) and other services offered by companies.”
In January 2025, the financial balance as a result of the funding capacity of the Portuguese economy had a balance of 29 million euros.
According to the regulator, investments in foreign debt securities and increased deposits abroad are “contributed to this balance” due to increased deposits abroad. In the opposite direction, after the passive rise in the central bank deposits, the net is the most reduced sector on the outside.
