Istanbul president accused of being corrupt and “cooperation with terrorist groups”

Turkish police on Wednesday detained Istanbul’s mayor as part of a judicial investigation into custody of Kurdish guerrilies and accused of corruption and “cooperation with terrorist groups”.
Early in the morning, the mayor was taken into custody by the Imamogs in the morning, as well as many employees and municipal employees of the same party, the Republican Popular Party (CHP and Turko).
State news agency Anadolu said the prosecutor had issued Imamogs and about 100 people.

“We are facing an act of great tyranny, but I want you to know that I will not give up.”
There were “before the criminal organization” allegations
One of the mayor’s employees told the France-Prescay news agency that Imazlu was arrested and taken to the police team.
According to a press release from the Public Prosecution Service in Istanbul, as part of an investigation into corruption, Imamogs accused the “profit non -profit criminal organization”.
The statement, which was quoted by the local press, also stated that “support for PKK”, the Kurdistan Workers Party, was considered a terrorist group for Turkey.
In a clear effort to prevent protests after the mayor’s detention, the authorities ended several roads around Istanbul and banned four days in the city.
“Tried up the rebellion against the next president”
Imamogs were first elected in 2019, which ended a quarter of Islamis dominance in Turkey’s largest city.
Social Democrat was re -elected in March 2024, and has been shown as an opponent of the head of the state of Turkey since then, Islamita Recep Thayip ErdoganIn the next president.
The University of Istanbul, the Government Higher Education Organization, canceled 28 Diploma, including Imamogs on Tuesday, based on the results of the internal investigating committee on “official documents false”.
This decision adds another additional obstacle to the candidacy of Imamogs to the presidency of Turkey.
According to the Turkish Constitution, candidates should have a higher education diploma for the presidency of the country.
The custody took place a few days before the CHP held on Sunday primary, where the Imamogs should be elected as a candidate for the future presidential election scheduled for 2028.
