Future Brick: Made with debris, it helps to build with less carbon

The new type of brick, made of completely recycled stones, promises revolutionary changes in the construction industry and helps in dealing with climate change.

It is called K-Briq and is specially made from recycled debris. Edinburgh -based Scottish Company, Kenotech, believes that this new brick construction industry will help solve one of the largest environmental problems: its huge waste management.

Unlike traditional clay bricks, cooking needs and consumes large amounts of energy, K-Briq is produced with a process without cooking, with low energy consumption and 95% less carbon emissions.

A real contribution to carbonic neutrality

“K-Brike is very important nationally and internationally, to help our circular economy and construction goals with void carbon liquid emissions,” said Kenotech co-founder and executive director Sam Chapman.

Chapman underlined, the The construction industry has a lot of impact on global carbon emissions, “But K-Brike can help significantly reduce the carbon embedded in new projects.”

Carbon has been incorporated – emissions associated with material production and structure – represent more than 50% of the total carbon footprint of the building.

Environment Friendly Recipe

“We use recycled gravels. It feels gravel at first glance, but in fact they are the remnants of old bricks, stones and demolition. As in the cake recipe, everything should be added to the right proportions. We are developing this principle,” Sam Chapman explained.

The range includes 12 verified colors from traditional powerful color tones such as Sian, Magenta or Yellow.
