Women rewrite India’s leadership story – B

Operation Sindur: Two faces were released during a media conference of the media armed forces of Colonel Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. They both ordered the full enthusiasm and showed amazing patience and courage. From the battlefield to the board room, Indian women are commanded, and this change has not taken place overnight.

India today analyzed the number of women in the military in today’s data intelligence unit and found that it continues to change. The number of women in police forces across India is 10 percent of the total employees. The participation of women in the armed forces has increased over the past decades, but they are not yet mentioned.

Civil police from various states have a large number of women employees (15 per cent), and their number is very low in special categories such as National Security Guards (NSG).

The representation of women in the Indian Army increased from 3.8 percent in 2020 to 4.1 percent in 2024. This is about 13.4 percent of the Air Force, while the Navy has increased from 5.5 percent to 6.8 per cent.

Women play leadership roles in the business industry, and men continue to leave their identity at the beginnings that once dominated men. The number of startups recognized by the Industrial and Internal Trade Development Department was only 36 percent in 2017, of which at least one female director was the director. By 2024, the number increased to 51 percent. States such as Maharashtra (14,284 startups), Delhi (8,012 startups) and Karnataka (8,000 startups) have emerged as an entrepreneur -led entrepreneurship center.

Corporate women

This change is also visible in the stages of the manager level. Over the past decade, men have been a major part of the leadership role, but the presence of women is constantly increasing. From 2017 to 2025, the number of women in the board room has doubled from 4.5 lakhs to 9.1 lakhs and their representation in senior administration has increased from 23,685 to 38,745. Similarly, the number of women in other administrative roles increased from 4.3 lakhs to 8.8 lakhs by 2025. However, there is a slight increase in the total role of women in all the characters.

Where are the women in the field of justice?

It is very important to represent women in the judiciary. According to the data, by December 2024, the total (1,122) judicial positions approved by the Supreme Courts in India have only 6 per cent (2) and 14 per cent (106) in the Supreme Court and High Courts respectively. However, every fourth candidate selected in civil services is a woman. According to 2021 data, 27 percent of the candidates selected in various civil services are women. A decade ago, this is a significant improvement compared to when it was just 21 percent.

These figures tell not only the story of participation but also the story of perseverance. This increase in women’s representation will show their determination and change in the policies of the government. As a spokesman for Operation Sindur, the existence of two female security officers shows that we are in the right direction in gender equality and have improved a lot.
