The Dutch government is ready for “hard” debates on increasing security costs

Last year, the government fulfilled its aim of sanctification of 2 % of GDP, as requision under the NATO member.
However, the US government should increase to 5 % in the coming years, which is twice the current rate, which is equal to tens of thousands of dollars for the countries of the highest gross domestic production.
“Our safety cost is surrounded by 2 %, which is in our budget. The most complexity is not to agree with this value, but to find ways to finance this increase,” Brekelmans said.
“We will have to make difficult political decisions. Theoretically, we have three ways: increase taxes, reduce costs or debt levels. They are all difficult political debates, some are already discussed in the Netherlands,” he said.
In addition, the coalition government claims that Ukraine is involved in spending an average of 3.5 billion euros per year for military support.
But the newly elected government, the four -party coalition, the Kirt Wilders Party, the PVV or the Freedom Party was right.
Wilders have repeatedly opposed military support for Ukraine, but Brekelmans insists that “Ukraine’s support from the Netherlands is unwavering in all parts of the country, including the military.”
Brekelmans emphasizes that the hack will allocate an average of 3.5 billion euros to Ukraine while in power, despite the fact that there are often tense discussions within the coalition.
However, NATO allies are still concerned about the US future role in NATO and, in general, support European security.
Brekelmans confirmed that the US abandoned the leadership of the Ukraine Security Committee (UTCG), a coalition of NATO, and about twenty people from around the world to provide military equipment in the Ukrainian front row.
Under the guidance of former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the role was exclusively by the United States during the Biden administration, but Brekelmans confirmed the EuroNus, which was certainly excluded from the role that once played confidently.
In addition, the newly appointed Defense Secretary Pete Hexed noted that some of the 100,000 American soldiers featured in Europe in NATO sponsored.
But the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands said that although no decision has been announced yet, it is desirable that it is desirable to be part of the admitted process, rather than the unilateral action of the US administration.
“To date, no refund has been announced. The most important thing is that at the meetings I have participated, Pete Hexed and many others say that NATO is more appropriate than the forerunner,” I added: “The most important thing can combine this and create some resources.
Despite the current US stock concerns, Brekelmans said the future of European security requires a US involvement.
“We have to keep the United States continuing because we are not essential for our security. But according to the US, I hope that NATO is firmly in their interest,” he said.
