The cheapest 5G WiFi project made for Airtel-Geo, will have to face trouble losses

5G WiFi Plans: Telecom operators in the country are promoting 5G -based standard wireless access (FWA) home connections. However, the expert believes that this low-cost is not a long-lasting model, which can lead to a future economic crisis for companies like Reliance Jio and Bharathi Airtel.

Companies add quick customers

Geo and Airtel join 5 to 7 lakh FWA customers every month, resulting in quick data consumption. However, experts say that this is a temporary solution to telecommunications companies to earn from the 5G spectrum. As mobile 5G users grow, the FWA can block the connection spectrum, which can increase its price or promote fiber -based connections.

Praveen Jawar of the Evandus capital said, “When telecommunication companies offer 1GB of 1GB per day in mobile 5G, the FWA is sold for three months for three months. This may be a loss for telecommunication companies for GB.”

As of April 2025, India has a total of 75 million FWA customers, which includes 61.4 lakh Geo and 13.6 lakh users Airtel. About 7.3 lakh FWA connections are added every month, which (3.7 lakhs) more than the standard broadband connection.

BWC India’s Winnish Bawa warned that this is not suitable for home consumed houses. He suggested that telecommunications companies should focus not not only from the sizes, but also on earning value -based projects, content/cloud coordination and corporate services.

Compound model

ISP Association President Rajesh Saria said that consumers are now giving priority to fiber connections instead of FWA. In India, a hybrid model (FWA + deep fiber + shared infrastructure) may be a practical and durable path in the future, especially in the Cities 2/3.
