Semiconductor revolution: Indian Institute of Science (Iisc) A group of 30 scientists of 30 scientists has submitted an ambitious plan to the Indian government, which plans to create ‘Angstrom-Scale’ chips. These chips are 10 times smaller than the existing small chips. Under this program, scientists have introduced a map to produce the next generation of semiconductor technology using 2D products, such as graffine and transcending metal titslochelocheloggungeons (TMT).

Think beyond the silicon

Today’s semiconductor technology uses mainly the US, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea dominant silicon. But beyond this traditional thought, this proposal of the IISC refers to a new revolution based on 2D materials, which will make India technically self -sufficient.

Government’s position and investment plan

The detailed project report of the project (DPR) was first submitted to the Principal Scientific Advisor on April 2022, which was renewed in October 2024 and had been electrified and Electronics and IT. The ministry has shown a positive attitude in the project and has held meetings to identify its practical applications.

Self -Indigenous Technology

While India is currently dependent on foreign companies for semiconductor production, the IISC proposal talks about creating an indigenous technology at a cost of only Rs 500 crore. This project is compatible with the ‘Bharat Semicandactor Mission’ and can be transformed into technology and strategic stronger.

If this project is successful, India can not only create a new identity in global semiconductor racing but also as an important step for technology self -efficiency.
