The United Kingdom has signed an agreement to convert the controversial Sagos Islands to Mauritius, and the Westminster says that the deal is protecting the future from a US military base and the UK for British security.

The Sakos Islands, the largest island, and Diego Carcia in the Indian Ocean, are the main navy and air bases used by the United States.

Under the contract, the United Kingdom leases 120 million euros per year at least 99 years.

Prime Minister Cairy Stremer said that this base is “based on our internal security” and is important to the struggle against terrorism and information services.

“When we come to this agreement in our terms, we ensure strong protection against evil implications, which will allow the site to work in the next century, which helps us to keep us safe for the coming generations,” Starmer said at a military headquarters near London.

Critics argue that the allocation of islands that have been the British territory for more than 200 years can lead to intervention of countries like Russia or China.

British Opposition Leader Chemical Padenoch argued: “We should not pay the British territory to Mauryas.”

The deal faced opposition from the island’s former residents, which had been evacuated for decades to construct the site. Starmer and Chairman Morrisiano Naveen Ramkulam must have signed a virtual ceremony on Thursday morning. It was postponed when a judge issued a precautionary measure before two natural women from Sagos.

The injunction was later raised by another judge.

Born in Sagos, who intercepted this feature, Bernard Dugas and Bertris said that it was still difficult to return home when considering the control of Bombay, Demer, Muriusness.

The deal has a reliable background to help local people and except Diego Garcia – allows Muria to organize the islands, but it does not guarantee it.

Bombay said, “The rights we have been fighting for 60 years for 60 years,” Bombay said, “Mornings will not give us it.”

The Sagos Islands have been under the control of British since 1814. In 1965, Britain separated them from Mauritius, which became independent in 1968.

In the 1960s and 70s, Britain discharged about 2,000 islands, so the United States could create the base of Diego Garcia. The site has supported US military operations from Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan and has facilities for nuclear submarines and information operations.

Mauritius has long contested the British claim on the islands. In 2019, the International Court of Justice said Britain had illegally separated injuries from Mauryas after the colonial rule was over.

The Strimer said, “We have to act now because the basic threat.” He said that Mauryas is preparing to take Britain to court and that the UK has no “successful perspectives”.

The deal includes strong security, such as the 39 -kilometer exemption zone around Diego Garcia, the UK veto for development and the ban on foreign security forces on the islands.

During the previous Conservative Government, conversations began in 2022, followed by Labor Party winning the July general election. Accordingly, a plan was achieved in October, but was postponed due to political changes in Mauritius and disagreements on the UK payments.

Britain also checked the agreement with the US after the government’s change in this country. The Trump administration approved the agreement earlier this year.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has settled this decision, ensuring the stable and effective long -term operation of Diego Garcia, and he considered it an important asset for regional and global security. “
