According to the sources, a meeting between the Congress on April 15, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the alliance’s strategy will be held. During this, the seat sharing will be discussed. Former Deputy C.M. Tejashvi Yadav will meet Congress leader Mallikarjun Carbai at his residence in Delhi.
History of Congress and RJD coalition in Bihar
Historical Alliance in 2015: The alliance between the Congress and the RJD is not new. Both parties have been developing for decades from time to time. In the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, there was an alliance between the JDU, the Congress and the RJT that won. The BJP had a failure.
Ethnic and social equation
The main support of the RJD is in the Yadav and the Muslim community, while the Congress’s support is equally weak. However, the Congress is holding its grip between minorities, Dalits and some upper castes. The social coalition of both parties affects the election equations.
Alliance in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the RJT and the Congress contested elections under the Grand Alliance, but this coalition was not so successful. After this, these parties contested together in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. However, in these elections, the NTA led by Nitish Kumar gained a majority, causing a major coalition defeat.
In the Grand Alliance, there was a lot of dissatisfaction over seating sharing, especially due to the weak performance of the Congress, and the RJD leaders were upset.

Both the Congress and the RJT are now part of the Indian alliance, which combines the opposition parties at the national level against the BJP. Tejashvi Yadav is the face of opposition in Bihar, but the Congress is only in the role of a partner.
