Stoned on the police
At a rally organized against the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Assam’s Kachchar district on Sunday, the policemen were charged when protesters threw stones at the police. There was a clash between protesters and the police at this time. To prevent further movement, the Kachar District Administration has implemented orders to ban the entire district under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS). The officer said that hundreds of people in the Branga area of Sylsar had taken several hundred people to the streets without the permission to oppose the recently passed law. He said, “About 300-400 people protested by blocking the road. When we tried to empty the way, some of them threw stones at us. We had to charge Lati to scatter the crowd.”
The police took action
He said the case has been registered, but no one has been detained or arrested.
The protesters showed black flags and chanted slogans against the BJP government and demanded the repeal of the law. A few hours a day, the Kachar district administration said that the administration has taken a decisive action to prevent the violation of the law, considering the increasing tension and the threat to public peace against the recent struggles against the Waqf law.
Article 163
The official release of Kachchar’s District Officer has implemented immediate ban on the district under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNSS). It suggests that strict restrictions have been imposed with immediate practice of collecting five or more people in collecting or carrying weapons without prior permission. The order also banned programs such as closed, rallies, strikes, darna and protests without consent. Accordingly, the District Magistrate has warned that any violation of this instruction will be called for strict action under the relevant law. The purpose of this administration is to restore peace in the Kachchar district during this unstable period and ensure peace and stability.
