Most NATO members support Trump’s demand to increase security costs, says Rutte

Most US allies in NATO have supported President Donald Trump’s GDP in 5% of the need to invest in security and are ready to increase security costs, coalition secretary Mark Rute said Thursday.
Rutte told reporters that “there is a lot of support” after heading the NATO security ministers meeting at the coalition headquarters in Brussels.
“We are very close,” he said, saying, “We are in full confidence that we will come there until the next NATO summit within three weeks.”
European allies and Canada have already invested in their armed forces, weapons and ammunition since Russia began a large -scale invasion of Ukraine by 2022.
At the same time, some refused US demands from investing 5% of GDP in security; 3.5% of the essential military expenditures and 1.5% of the roads, bridges, airromas and sea ports should be faster.
Attempted to achieve the goal
In 2023, when the Russian war against Ukraine entered its second year, NATO leaders agreed to spend at least 2% of national security budgets on GDP.
So far, 22 out of 32 member states have done so, but others are still struggling to achieve the goal.
Trump and his NATO colleagues may have acknowledged the new goal at the summit at the hack on June 24 and 25.
Trump insists that American allies should spend at least 5% of the countries, so the US can focus on security priorities elsewhere, especially Indo-Pacific and its own borders.
Trump has a major influence in other NATO countries by launching questions about whether the US will protect the very little allies.
The new purpose will indicate an increase of 1.5% more than 2% of the current target for security budgets. This means that all 32 countries will invest in the same percentage.
As for dollars, the US spends more than any other allies.
However, according to NATO’s latest data, the US has spent 3.19% of GDP by 2024, against 3.68% a decade ago. This is the only partner who has declined costs since 2014.
Although two new values have disappeared 5%, the enhancement of civil infrastructure, so that the troops can quickly highlight the NATO traditional safety costs significantly.
Seven years of shortage of regular coalition standards. The 2%most moderate goal established after Russia’s connecting the Ukrainian Peninsula in 2014 should be achieved for more than a decade.
US Head in NATO
According to US Defense Secretary Pete Hexheth, Trump has done nothing less than saving NATO.
“European allies gathered around the desk on Thursday and said: We are listening to your speech. We all have to increase our skills. We all have to spend more. We all have to spend more to renew this agreement. Thank you for renewing this agreement. It was a coalition. It was a coalition. It was a coalition.
If the Trump administration declares a reduction in troops in Europe, there will be additional costs, where there are about 84,000 US soldiers, where European allies collect any security gaps.
Asked about the Pentagon’s plans, Hexed did not explain, but “it will be the only reason the United States continued to evaluate our strength posture. This is precisely we did.”
“The United States cannot be everywhere, and it should not be, so there are reasons for the presence of troops in some places,” he said.
During the meeting, Hexed and his security colleagues also approved the acquisition of military weapons and equipment to protect Europe, Arctic and North Atlantic.
“Skills Goals” set aims to get preference equipment for every 32 countries, such as air security systems, long -ranges missiles, artillery, ammunition, drones and air fuel, heavy air transport and logistics such as “strategic facilities”.
The plan of each country is confidential, so the lack of details.
Based on a plan agreed by 2023, new goals are said by NATO, which is the biggest change in the agreement after the Cold War, to protect its territory from the attack of Russia or other important enemy.
According to these projects, experts have suggested that NATO is ready to go to their east within 30 days, although there will be difficulty in collecting such numbers.
