India’s data central capacity: The Data Center (DC) market capacity in India’s top seven cities is expected to cross 4,500 MW by 2030, which will attract $ 20-25 billion in the next 5-6 years. This information was issued in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the Calliers report, about 55 million square feet of real estate is likely to be developed in the next 5-6 years. In the last 6-7 years, the DC capacity has increased over 4 times and has reached 1,263 MW by April. This increase is due to the increase in the demand for digital and cloud service, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IOT) and increased the Internet supported by favorable government policies.
At the urban level, DC Mumbai was the majority with 41 per cent stake in Mumbai, followed by 23 per cent and 14 per cent of the Chennai and Delhi-NCR respectively. As a result of the rapid expansion of the capacity, the country’s first seven TC markets have increased three times more than 16 million square feet.
Coleiers India Chief Operating Officer Jadin Shah said, “India is becoming a global TC hotspot with the help of rapid digitalization, data localization regulations and strong government support.” The strategic benefits of India, such as land availability, electricity and efficient skills for use, strengthen its position as a preferred place for data centers in the APAC area.
Shah said, “The interesting thing is that the market age data centers are spreading from the collection facilities and the high -end, which is due to low delay, real -time analysis and increasing the requirements of excellent use.” In terms of geography, 44 percent of the new distribution has been focused on Mumbai since 2020.
Following this, Chennai and Delhi-NCR contributed 42 per cent to capacity growth since 2020. Even in the next 5-6 years, most primary DC markets will see a significant flow of the new distribution.
