Rahul Gandhi In the Sikh riots: Responding to the question of the 1984 riots and the Congress’s relationship with the Sikh community, Rahul Gandhi said that no matter what the Congress did, they had been there when they were not there. He said he would be happy to be responsible for the mistakes made by the party in its history. Rahul said that it was public that what happened in the 80s was wrong.

Rahul Gandhi made this comment on April 21 during a conversation session at Watson, the International and Public Affairs Institute of Brown University, USA. The video of the conversation was uploaded on the YouTube channel of Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs on Saturday. He referred to the question of what a Sikh student tried to integrate with the Sikh community and in his long question he referred to the 1984 Sikh riots.
During his last US visit, the student also mentioned Rahul’s comments in which he said that the Sikhs were struggling to wear a turban in India. In his reply, Rahu said, I don’t think the Sikhs are afraid of anything. What do we want to make India embarrassing to express their religion? As far as the Congress party’s mistakes, many of them made mistakes when I was not, but I am happy to take responsibility for all that the Congress party did in my history.
