European Parliament asks the Commission to approach Hungary for social funds

Due to the recession of the Victor Arbin government regarding the rule of law, the MePs group appealed to the European Commission to shut down the EU financial assistance to Hungary.
The letter was signed by the Commissioner in charge of the budget, Michael McGrath, the Commissioner in charge of Democracy and Justice and 26 MEOS from 5 different political groups.
“Through the European Parliament, 26 representatives, he wrote to us to express his deep concern over the recent events in Hungary. We have urged the European Commission to increase the pressure on the government of the European Union values and laws.
The Commission currently retains 18 billion euros from Hungary by several methods of so -called December 2022, mainly due to “widespread corruption” and “severe violations of law rule by the government”
“Sadly, since the results of December 2022, Hungary has not made significant progress in the conditions and/or milestones, but also seen new dangerous setbacks,” the letter states.
The letter quotes four key questions, which include direct government intervention in the task of Hungarian power for integrity, which compromises the independence of judicial power, resulting in the opposition of the Hungarian Judges Association, the gay gifts in Budapest and the approval of “sovereignty.”
Accepted by 2023, the law allows voters to affect the use of foreign funds and are considered to be an intervention for government critics. In addition to this law, the Hungarian Parliament is currently discussing a bill that can be added to the list, and is using the media and the volunteers funded by foreign funds.
Reducing all the funds is in the EU’s interest in the European Fund – they say MEPS
The signatures of the letter quotes the position of the status of the EU’s legal rule as a means of reducing financial support in the case of such violations. This mechanism was previously used against Hungary.
“In view of the intersection and comprehensive nature of the recent government attacks, it must be more clear that all EU funds for Hungary are in danger in all budgets. It is proportional to represent the financial interests of the union,” Mio said.
Among the signatures of the letter, including PPE, S&T, Verdes/All, Renewal and Left, Left, Monica Holmer and Jean-Mark Germain, the co-reports of the law of the law, Daniel Prayant, Daniel Broar, Daniel Broarford, Tarford Darford Darford Darford Tarford Tarford Tarford Doner Doner Doner Doner Doner Doner Doner Darford Darford Darford Darford Darford Darford Darford Doner, Toner, Budget Commission, Tynec Strike, Hungary’s Riportier, and European Parliamentary Budget Control Help Headlis Headquarters Head of the European Parliament Budget Control.
The Commission is open to discuss new cuts
Last weekend, tens of thousands of people protested against the transparency bill in Budapest, which, according to the opposition, is a Russian -style instrument for making critics silence. On Wednesday afternoon, the European Parliament held an emergency debate on the matter, with several representatives set up an European Commission to take immediate action.
In his reply, Commissioner Michael McGrath, who is responsible for democracy and justice, is ready to protect the basic values and rights of the union, which means using the status of the law of the law to allow financial cuts.
“The Commission is considering its approach to the next many annual financial framework. We have held a new debate on this article at the meeting of yesterday’s college’s college. This includes the role of the condition and the respect of the rule of law.”
During the debate in the European Parliament, Hungarian party members said that the maintenance of sovereignty and restricting foreign intervention in Hungarian politics is a matter of national interest. Hungarian MEF Sisaba Demdar accused the Brussels of financing the Left -Wing enthusiast’s network.
“Whatever they say, we have nothing to do with civil society. The civil society is organized from the ground, but these activists are funded by the great alliance or the open society or the help of the USAIT,” he said.
The new transparency law in Hungary, which has been declared as part of Prime Minister Victor Arban’s self-heading “spring cleaning”, may be recognized by the Hungarian Parliament in the coming weeks.
