The EU agency (European Union) for protecting the outer boundaries (EU) announced a 31% drop in illegal migratory crossings in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

The cross sections were recorded at least 33 to 600, and a decrease in all ways to lead Europe.

The largest fall on the West Palkan Path – 64% – was seen.

Why are crossings on the West Balkan track?

“The fall of the crossroads may be due to many factors: increasing the border police of the Balkan countries, and the widespread risks of the severe conditions of winter and human rights violations,” says the migration and diversity analyst of the European Policy Center, Helina Han.

Han also pointed out that the change in regime in Syria has led to a decline in asylum demands by 2024, and that “arrival” could increase in the late summer and autumn.

Attempts to cross Africa to Spain decreases nearly a third

The West African way of connecting Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia and the West Sarah with the Canary Islands recorded a significant descent (30%).

Similarly, 29% of the drop in cross -sections in the eastern Mediterranean is mainly leading to Cyprus, Greece and Bulgaria from Afghanistan, Sudan and Egypt.

The third marked fall (26%) on the central Mediterranean route via Niger and Libya from the West and Central Africa was discovered, towards Europe, especially Italy, crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

Eastern Mediterranean: The thrilling path to migrate to Europe to Europe

With 9,267 attempts in Crossing, the Eastern Mediterranean Sea Path was the favorite of the illegal immigrants.

With the next 9,205 attempts, especially Mali, Senegal and Guinea.

The third most active path is the central Mediterranean (8,542), especially those from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Syria.

However, the United Kingdom seems to be the final place of Europe for thousands of immigrants, as Frendex registered 11,000 illegal cross sections from France to the other side of the Spot Canal in the four months since 2025.
