CBSE Sugar Board

CBSE Sugar Board: Central Secondary Education Board (CBSE) It has recently launched an important health effort, aimed at raising awareness of excessive Chinese intake risks among students in schools. Under this initiative, all affiliated schools have been advised to set up the ‘Sugar Board’, which will educate students for healthy food preferences. In addition, schools have been encouraged to organize awareness seminars and workshops for students, teachers and parents. All schools must submit the reports and photos of these activities to CBSE by 15 July 2025.

Over the past few years, children in India have seen an increase in types of diabetes and obesity cases. According to CBSE data, children between the ages of 4 and 10 receive about 13% of their daily calories and 15% of the age of 11 to 18, while the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends only 5%. The main reasons for this growing health crisis are easily available snacks and processed foods around schools and surrounding them. Therefore, the CBSE has decided to raise awareness of healthy food options at the starting level by the Sugar Board initiative.

What is the sugar board?

According to a circular issued by the CBSE, the Sugar Board is a educational visual board, with students aware of the risks of excessive sugar intake. The Board made it clear that the necessary information on these ‘sugar boards’ should be shown:

  • Rigmantate consumes daily sugar for children.
  • The amount of sugar in the food and drinks that are usually eaten.
  • Health risk associated with excessive sugar consumption.
  • Healthy food options like fruits, whole grains and low sugar snacks.
  • Research with research on developing health concerns.

Many schools across the country have welcomed this effort. Some schools have already taken steps to prohibit garbage food and promote healthy diet options. Now, the establishment of the sugar board will make this effort even more strong.
