New Delhi: The Indian Navy is going to take a major military lead in the coming years. The government has issued a green signal for the purchase of 26 Rafael M warplanes from France. The Mega Agreement of Rs 63,000 crore is now in the final stage, which has approved the Cabinet Committee (CCS).
What is the Rafale M deal?
The agreement between the Indian government and France is being held from the government at the G2G level. Under this, the Indian Navy will get 22 single seats and 4 double seats of Rafael M (Marine) war jet. These advanced naval versions will be used in flight holders such as INS Vikramaditya and Inn Vikrand.
This agreement includes the following:
- Logistic support and ground maintenance
- Training pilots and technicians
- Creating some parts of India (under offset policy)
- If everything is according to the plan, the first volume will reach India by the end of 2029 and all 26 flights will be provided by 2031.
Why is this deal important?
