Antonio Costa invites reforms in Bosnia to ensure progress to join EU

As part of his journey via Palkan, European Council President Antonio Costa visited Sarajev on Tuesday. He was warmly welcomed when he arrived before he came to the presidency of Bosnia.

In a statementThe European Council president declared that the European Union is “firm” in the future of the country. He also congratulated the country’s triangular president – Shelljka CV Janovic, Denis Besirovic and Shelzko Gomik for his role in maintaining stability and security in the country and the region.

The chairman of the European Council also urged some reforms to ensure that Bosnia exist to join the EU.

“We need the approval of two judicial laws, appointing a chief negotiator and accepting the reform agenda to take the way to join Bosnia-Hersakovina to join Europe.”

Bosnia is the only country that does not benefit from the EU development program for Western Balcans. Costa stressed that it is very important to implement these reforms to ensure that Bosnia citizens benefit from the EU program.

“Bosnia and Hersakovina would like to join other West Balkan partners and I would like to benefit from all things that the EU had to provide,” the Chairman of the Board said.

On Wednesday, Costa Montenegro and Albania will meet with President Jacob Mladovic in Bogorica and President Bajram Begaj in Trana. He will conclude his journey with the arrival of Scoopje in Northern Macedonia, where he will meet Prime Minister Histrigan Mikoski.
