100 billion per year: the cost of work -related stress in the EU

100 billion euros per year. The European Union Agency (ETUI) issued a study on Monday, according to a survey of the annual cost of work -related depression in the EU.

The reflection panel identifies the five psychological social risks in the appearance of this mental illness:

  • Stress at work

  • Long working hours

  • Insecure in employment

  • The imbalance between the effort and the reward

  • Moral harassment.

    These risks will have sad consequences according to pre -2015 data.

“About 6000 coronary diseases cause deaths of mental social risks, and more than 5,000 deaths are caused by depression,” says EU researcher Sonia Narock.

In the same year, the report said that more than 400,000 years of loss of heart disease and depression were lost. Dimitra Theodori, director of ETUI’s health and security director, writes “these are preventable deaths.”

According to CES, 8% of cardiovascular diseases and 23% recession are the cause of these psychological social risks.
