Union Minister Shivraj will attend the 15th meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers in Brazil, the leader of these countries

Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will attend the 15th meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers in Brazilia on April 17, 2025. He will lead the Indian delegation. The theme of this meeting is to promote comprehensive and steady agriculture by cooperation, innovation and justified trade between BRICS countries. The meeting will be attended by BRICS member states and senior officials of BRICS member states including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Iran.
Discussions on cooperation in these areas will be held
Chauhan will hold a meeting with Brazilian agriculture and cattle minister Carlos Henrix Bicata Favaro and Agriculture Development and Family Agriculture Minister Louis Paulo Texera. These meetings are focused on increasing cooperation between India and Brazil in various sectors of agriculture, agricultural technology, rural development and food security.
Shivraj will meet the head of agricultural institutions
Chauhan is in talks with representatives of Brazilian agricultural businesses and representatives of Brazilian Vegetable Oil Industry Association and seeking to participate in the agricultural price chain and seek investment opportunities. They also participate in the Tree Plantation Campaign at the Indian Embassy in Bracelia to name the ‘Tree Mother’ to raise awareness of environmental protection and respecting motherhood.
The Minister of Agriculture will communicate with Indian immigrants
Besides, he interacts with Indian immigrants at Sao Paulo and recognizes his role as cultural ambassadors and assistants in bilateral relations. This journey is in line with India’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with BRICS countries and advance agricultural innovations and southern-south cooperation.
Bimstek meeting was held a few days ago
Earlier, Central Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chauhan led India on April 9 at the third Bimstek Agricultural Ministry at Kathmandu, Nepal. This includes agriculture ministers and senior agriculture officials from Bimstek countries such as India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka. The meeting was held to provide more regional cooperation in the field of agriculture. Over the last decade, Bimstec has emerged as an important platform to promote regional development, contact and economic progress in the Bengal’s Bay region.
“Agriculture and Food Security” is one of the main fields of cooperation of Bimstec. This is the highest decision to create a regional agricultural cooperation -the third meeting of the making company Bam. The first Bam was held in Myanmar on July 12, 2019, and then the second Balm in India on November 10, 2022. During the third Balm, agriculture ministers discussed the paths and ways of bimsteck agriculture, including fisheries and livestock collaboration.
