The surplus of Chhattisga Hi becomes problematic, the government suffers from over Rs 3,000 crore!

The Chhattisga HT is becoming a major challenge for the government and the rest of the paddy. Due to this rice, the government has to face several thousand crores. One estimate, the Chhattisga government has to suffer a loss of Rs 3,000-3,600 crore, to sell more than 3 million tonnes of surplus rice. The lack of demand is believed that buyers have given low rates and for this reason the government will have to suffer this loss.
Rice prices are determined!
For this reason, the state agency has identified paddy in four categories. For these four categories of rice, the agency had to force the price reserved between Rs 1,900 and Rs 2,100 per quintal. In the first phase of the auction, the state government is likely to increase the reserved prices and increase the rice of four lakh tonnes. Since the size sold is very low, the state government has decided to re -divide the contract for the remaining size. According to the newspaper The Hindu Business Line report, the Chhattisga HT State Cooperative Marketing Association (MarkFed) has bought rice on behalf of the government.
The difference in old and new prices
The agency has agreed to take only 104.48 lakh tonnes of paddy for the Central Pool from the Center. After this, it was decided to sell about 33 lakh tonnes of surplus rice in the open market. The state is selling more than MSP prices in the state. In 2023-24, the center purchased 124 lakh tonnes of rice from Chhattisga H. According to the reserved prices, the price of paddy story with grade A varies is set at Rs 1100 per quintal. 2050 per quintal of old price.
Similarly, the price of common varieties (very golden varieties) is Rs. Determined as 1950. The old price is Rs. 1900. The price of paddy in MSP for Grade A is set at Rs 2320 per quintal. At the same time, the price of general variation is set at Rs 2300 per quintal.
Experts warned
Unlike MSP, a bonus has been announced in some states along with MSP. Experts have warned governments about this. He said the bonus was damaging the open market. At the same time, the central government is unable to control the rising rice prices in the open market. Some farmers have started raising similar stories, in which yields are high. These farmers have raised the only goal that can be sold to the government. For this reason, the availability of special variety of rice has also decreased, which is now being purchased by users. In Chhattisga H, 2024-25, rice production was 127 lakh tonnes (83.35 lakh tonnes for rice). In 2023-24, the number was 145 lakh tonnes (97.03 lakh tonnes for rice).
