Success Story: The smell of mango from Odisha reached Italy, the female farmers exported

Mango export: Jyotirmayi Pradhan, a female farmer from Dhenkanal in Odisha, has never moved out of her state and is a dream of a dream abroad, and now she reaches outside her joint country border. This summer, his mangoes traveled to Italy. The demand for new orders to come before the previous cargo is constantly coming up. In collaboration with a group of female peasants, Pradhan was specially established for the art of cracking mangoes without any stains, sorting them to size and fulfilling their international markets.
FPO has earned 1 crore

Pradhan Baladevju is a member of the women’s farmer producer company Limited. It is a woman -led farmer production company (FPO) with over 1000 shareholders. The FPO has bought 1 crore business by exporting mangoes to Dubai.
More than 100 farmers benefit from
Consulting company Grant Tornton has begun exporting the Amrapali mangoes to European countries (Social and Transitional Rural Economic Empowerment) and HDFC Bank’s change under social and transformation rural economic empowerment. Until Wednesday, the FPO sent five tonnes of mango goods to Italy. By the end of the mango season in June, it plans to export more than 50 tonnes. More than 100 women benefit from this initiative.
Women are also trained
Grant Thornton India has worked with over 33 FOPOs in eight districts of Odisha in collaboration with agriculture and processed food product export development corporation (Apeda). These collaborations are focused on solving the challenges in the post -harvest management through the exercises that enhance the ability. An important turning point for this initiative is a training meeting on management after cutting fruit crop. It is specially made for female farmers.
After this, there is also support from government agencies, such as the construction of cold storage facilities, the purchase of plastic cans, and the subsidy of transportation points from agriculture and storage charges. Value edition and processing also provided help.
An increase in the income of female peasants
With the help of women farmers, they are free to lease their gardens to local dealers, which limit their income. Now they are getting more returns to their local product. In the Dhenkanal district, mangoes are planted in 9.34 hectares, mainly with varieties such as Amrapali, skirt and Keshari and have significant opportunities for export.
