Ranchi Agri University Advance Type Development Fodder Crop is 5 times higher, 5 times higher

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has recommended the release of Birsa Leethairas -1 of a variety of fodder crop. This type was developed by Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) scientists in Ranchi. This is confirmed in a statement released by BAU. It is said that fodder is resistant to disease such as burning and that it is also nutritious for animals. According to BAU, the new type was developed under the All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP).
More than the traditional type
The university is said to have released this type to the northeastern and central area of the country. The average green fodder yield of this type (GFY) is 190 quintals per hectare. This is 6.3 percent higher than yield from National Check Variety Mahtioora. This type is moderately resistant to leaf combustion in the northeastern region. At the same time, Jharkhand is also suitable for timely sowing, general fertility and irrigation conditions.
Raw protein is also higher
According to BAU, the percentage of raw protein in this type is 4 to 5 percent higher than the national check type. It produces 8.3 quintals per hectare, which is 15 percent better than Czech Variety Mahtora. Dr. Yogendra Prasad and Dr Birendra Kumar have been working on this kind of development for the past decade. On April 22-23, two scientists participated in the annual group meeting of AICRP (Network Projects) on fodder crops held at Dharwad and Krishi Vigian University in Karnataka. It is recommended to release the Birsa Lathiras -1 type here.
A huge fodder shortage in the country
The meeting was attended by over 100 scientists from all over the country. He also reviewed the fodder research program. In its statement, BAU said, ‘The shortage of green fodder at the national level is 11.24 per cent, while the decline in Jharkhand is 46 per cent. The lack of drought fodder in this state is 23 percent. During the event, scientists also appreciate their achievement.
