Purchase of wheat 250 lakh metric tonnes and 21 lakh farmers Rs 62156 crore
The purchase of wheat is running smoothly in major purchasing states across the country. During the Rabi Marketing period, 2025-26 RMS and 256.31 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been collected against the estimated 312 lakh metric tonnes of wheat in Central Pool. The total amount of wheat purchased until April 30 was 205.41 lakh metric tonnes on the same date last year, which shows an increase of 24.78 %. According to a total of 5 major wheat collection, IE Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh bought more wheat this year this year.
A total of 21.03 lakh farmers benefited from RMS 2025-26, of which a total of MSP 62155.96 crore. The main contribution to the collection comes from five states – Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, where 103.89 LMT, 65.67 LMT, 67.57 LMT, 11.44 LMT and 7.55 LMT are collected.
A steady boom in brown collection
The collection period in RMS 2025-26 remains a long time, so most of the previous year’s data for the country’s central pools is moving. This year, the efforts of the food and public distribution department behind positive results about the size of wheat collection, which has been launched based on previous years of practices and shared with states a long time ago. It has raised the purchase of wheat.
Awareness among farmers, farmers’ registration, preparations for procurement centers, timely payment of MSP to farmers were regularly monitored by meetings. In most cases, MSP was paid to farmers within 24 to 48 hours. This is the reason for farmers to reach government centers this time with their products and take advantage of the MSP.
