Petrobras and BNDES announced the purchase of carbon credits on Amazon

Petrobras and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) have partnered with creating a program to fund forest restoration programs in the Amazon area on Monday (31).
As part of the profession+program, petrobrass auctioned to buy carbon credits from restoration projects. Winners can take low interest loans of BNDES to develop projects.
During the pilot phase, the program earns about 450 million restoration investments, leading to a replacement of about 15,000 hectares, petrobras and bank in a joint program.
In this first phase, Petrobras hopes to sign long -term contracts with 15 companies participating in the auction scheduled in July.
“We will open the doors to the subsidy credit for green entrepreneurs,” said Petrobras President Magda Chamber, with the auction of oil company Brazil, setting up a reference price of carbon credits in Brazil.
Carbon credits are a discussible permits that allow the owner to issue some greenhouse gases. Each credit allows a ton of carbon dioxide or other types of greenhouse gases.
Petrobras began to buy carbon credits in 2023, which declared that their premium gasoline podium would use them to replace the carbon emissions of gasoline.
