Nafed has so far bought 1.79 lakh tonnes of mustard MSP, which has bought the highest in Haryana

Nafed has so far collected 1.79 lakh tonnes of mustard from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the Rabi Marketing Session 2025. The government has resolved the MSP for the quintal at Rs 5950. According to the report till 20 April 2025, the maximum purchase was purchased in Haryana, where 1.61 lakh tonnes of mustard was purchased at Nafed MSP.
Will continue to buy in many states
Mustard prices are still running under the MSP in many mandonds, due to the purchase process of the NAFED.
- Madhya Pradesh: 11,743 tonnes
- Rajasthan: 5,893 tonnes
- Assam: 1044 tonnes
- Uttar Pradesh: 16.3 tons
Prices in Mandis below MSP
On Monday, the model price of the mustard in Rajasthan Mandis was between Rs 5099 to Rs 6115 per quintal. 6115 in Malapura (Todarasingh) Mandi in Tonk district, which is above the MSP. Prices in all other mandi are lower than MSP.
Mustard production may fall
The government aims to buy 28.28 lakh tonnes of mustard this rabi season. However, in the second pre-estimated estimate, the mustard production in 2024-25 will reduce 3% to 128.73 lakh tonnes, compared to 132.59 lakh tonnes last year.
Nafed activation also during the kharif season
Nafed bought crops from farmers at MSP during Kharif 2024.

Nafed supports farmers by buying crops in MSP, especially when prices are falling in the market. This stage helps farmers get the right price for their products.
