MSP News: Farmers face folding agencies, now a plan to promote Gram’s MSP collection!

MSP purchased: In view of the slowing speed of gram purchase this season, the government is considering steps to promote purchase. If the roots believe, in the current season, in the current season, in 2024-25, the purchase of Gram or Chickpies, which is 50 percent of the total lentils production, is slow. This has happened because agencies like the Farmers’ Co -operative Organization NAFED and NCCF have so far bought only 0.2 million tonnes (MT) against a metric ton buffer.
Farmers are not selling products in MSP
According to the media report, Mandi’s prices are slightly lower than the minimum support price (MSP) as farmers are not selling their products to agencies in MSP, as the prices of Mandi are slightly lower than the minimum support price (MSP). If the roots believe, the collection campaign under the Price Support Scheme is still ongoing. According to commercial sources, the arrival of a wide variety of pulses in Mandis has already crossed its maximum. This season, the purchase of private private processors is fast. Similarly, the market price is running Rs 5400 per quintal in most areas.
Yellow peas duty free imports
Before buying at the market price to increase the buffer, we are still waiting for market values to develop. The Maharashtra Dal Millers Association has recently requested the government to stop the duty of yellow peas used as an alternative to the government. In addition, 60 per cent of the Bengal village has been appealed to restore import duty. Imports increases affect market prices.
Currently, more than 3 meters of yellow peas have been imported from December 2023. The government wanted to improve the domestic supply of Gram as it hopes to reduce production from 12.26 MT to 2023-24 in the year 2022-23. Yellow Peas Duty Free Imports Allowed until May 31, 2025.
Why raised personal collection
Sources said that in the last crop year, Gram production was much lower than government expectations. For this reason, the import process has been slightly generous. Apart from this, in the last fiscal year, Australia and Tanzania imported 1.6 metric tonnes of Bengal Gram, with only 10 percent of the best of them. In the 2024-25 crop, the Ministry of Agriculture is expected to make Gram production slightly higher, that is 11.53. At the same time, government purchase has decreased due to the increase in private collection.
