Farmers suffered big losses due to monsoon rains in Maharashtra. Now, after the loss of the state’s Revenue Minister Chandrasekhar Bawankule, the farmers who have been infected with rain and storms have promised to compensate. In April and May, unsonnated rains and storms have caused heavy damage to crops and fruit orchards in many districts, including Amravati in the educational area.
The compensation process boom
Bavankule, the Nutritional Minister of Amravati district, said, ‘We will immediately compensate the farmers. I asked the authorities to assess the damage and submit a report as soon as possible. In Amravati, efforts are being made to compensate the affected farmers as soon as possible, he said. The minister said that the immediate assessment of the crop loss means that the authorities should complete the panchayat. It should be proposed to the State Secretariat in Mumbai. Bawankule assured, ‘We will speed up the compensation process and distribute compensation without delay.’
It can damage the crops
He reviewed the damage caused by unsonelonical rains and ordered the Division Commissioner and District Collectors to take the compensation process as a priority. He said timely help is very important. The minister said that the administration had been ordered to work fast to relieve the affected farmers. According to early reports, in April, unsonelected rains and storms hit 794 hectares of banana, orange and papaya plantations in 1,174 villages. It is estimated to cause a loss of Rs 2.83 crore.
Big damage to animals
Bavankule said 325 villages were damaged in 13,639 hectares in May. The rain has affected Mong, Sesame, Banana, Orange, Papaya, Onion, Jover and Lemon crops. Human and cattle have also suffered losses due to rain. Apart from this, three people lost their lives due to lightning in different places. The minister said that in April 18, the houses suffered partial damage and that a house was completely destroyed. 741 houses were damaged in May. At the same time, animals’ houses were also affected. In May, Bawankule said there were reports of 29 small and 12 large animals. According to Bavankule, the process of distribution of former gratia to the families of the deceased is being distributed to cattle.
