The Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced a change of power rates in the state since April 1. With this, farmers and electricity users are going to get great relief. Most importantly, users who now install smart prepaid meters should spend 25 paise per unit. At the same time, electricity rates for rural users have also been reduced by 54 paise per unit, which also reduces their costs.

Farmers benefit

If you have installed smart prepaid meters, you are going to get great relief. Smart prepaid meters are not better to eat more than the load by six months after installing. Apart from this, if you live in rural areas and installing smart prepaid meters, you will get 79 pies per unit on power consumption. This stage proves that it is very beneficial for farmers, as it reduces their electricity costs, especially paddy farmers.

Relief from new rates

The domestic group has changed power rates for customers in rural areas of Bihar. Now two slabs have been built in rural areas. Users of over 50 units of power consumption will get 54 paise per unit. At the same time, users who install smart prepaid meters will get 25 paise per unit, which makes their overall profit 79 pies.

Relief to industrial units

Electricity companies have proposed an increase in industrial units, which are not accepted by the Bihar State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Apart from this, industrial users make digital payments, then they can also get a percentage of a percentage or 50 thousand rupees.

New relief to the agriculture sector

The agriculture sector is also going to benefit from these new power rates. In particular, a new category has been created for cold storage. Now included in the Cold Storage LT-AAS section, which seeks contracts up to 74 kW. In addition, a new category has been created for HT Cold Storage, including 50 KVA to 1500 KVA. This decision improves the storage of agricultural products and gains the benefit of the storage of farmers.

New rates will be executed from April 1

According to the new rates, the following changes will take place:

  • Cottage Jyoti (0-50 unit) to the unit 7.42
  • More than 50 units (rural areas) per unit of Rs.7.42
  • 1-100 units (urban domestic) unit of Rs.7.42
  • More than 100 units per unit (urban domestic) Rs.8.95

These new rates will be in effect till 31 March 2026, which will relieve power consumers in the entire state.
