Karnal Deveded Disease, found in wheat in Punjab, appeal to farmers, do not collect seeds

Karnal Bunt, a fungal disease, was found in some parts of the Mukksar district of Punjab. It has raised concerns among farmers and agricultural authorities. Agriculture officials have confirmed their presence. The samples for the final test were sent to the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana. Farmers are currently waiting for the test results and the authorities are preparing to deal with the situation that arises from the disease.

Appeal to farmers

The disease was reported in Gurusar, Madhir, Harikey Kalan, Kotli Sangh and some other villages. According to the report of the newspaper The Tribune, the authorities have quickly taken action and appealed to the farmers not to use grains from the affected areas on the next season. This prevents the disease from spreading further. What is remarkable is that Muktasar is the own district of agriculture Gurmeet Singh Khudia.

The division of Karnal was found in some villages, while the Tribune quoted the Muksar Chief Agricultural Officer Dr Karanjit Singh Gill. However, for the final confirmation we have sent patterns to a quarter and Ludhiana. During a local Mandis visit, I saw 1-2 percent of black wheat grains on a pile in the Muksar grain market. In the village of Kotli Sangh, their percentage is slightly higher. On some piles, these spots are 2-3 percent.

This is why the disease spreads in wheat

He said, ‘The crop was found healthy throughout the season and in such a situation, the farmers got out of the fungi kanyni spray. The disease seems to have spread. He said the crop was only seen after the harvest. He said that if you know earlier, farmers should be suggested to the Prevention of Prevention. Now the farmers are not collecting these grains as seeds next year. However, humans and animals can be eaten even after the infected crop is completely cleaned.

Farmers’ concerns have increased

Meanwhile, concerns about grain purchase have increased due to the detection of the disease. Farmer leader Thana Singh said, “The problem came to light when some farmers were black at the time of purchase. If the government fails to buy a crop at the minimum support price (MSP), then we have no way to protest. Another farmer leader Kuldeep Singh also expressed such concerns. He, ‘We need to get an affordable price. Many farmers believe that the disease is caused by inferior seeds. I want fellow farmers not to sell their products from a quarter.
