Kadhar village in Mandi has become an ideal for natural farming, farmers are making benefits by taking advantage of subsidy
There is a small village on the border of Jogindarnagar and Patar Sambivision in Himachal Pradesh. The specialty of this village is that only 14 families live here. Now the village has become a model for natural farming in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Every house in the village adopts the methods of natural farming. This is a big example of change in agriculture. The special thing is that until a few years ago, there was an agricultural trend based on chemical elements in the village.
How was this change in the village
The change began in Kadhar when village women took the initiative to find out the nuances of natural farming. Inspired by his success, the whole village gradually embraced chemical -free farming. Quoting Kadhar’s resident Rajni Devi, Nijardar website wrote, ‘We have trained in natural farming four years ago. In the first year, we tried this as an experiment and the results would increase our enthusiasm. According to Rajni Devi inspired by this victory, agriculture was naturally pushed in all fields. Today, Kadhar is proud to be recognized as the ideal village for natural farming.
Which crops will raise the farmers
Currently, Kadhar farmers raise more than eight hectares of land using natural farming practices such as wheat, barley, corn, peas, potatoes, soybeans, Rajma and copper. The villagers say that this method is very effective, in which agriculture is mainly dependent on cow dung and cow’s urine. These things are easily obtained because of the local cow in every house. The state government has recently raised the minimum support price (MSP) for maize and wheat and has doubled their happiness. Because of this growth, there is a smile on the faces of the farmers.
Financial assistance from the government
Rajni Devi thanked the government and said it would get Rs 40 per kg of maize and Rs 60 per kg. Natural agriculture is not only durable now, but also more beneficial. Lalit Kumar, the black technical manager of the ATMA project in Drang, said that Kadhar village has been officially declared as the suitable village for natural farming. He said that about 3,376 farmers in the Drawing Development Block have now adopted natural farming practices. The government is providing the necessary assistance to promote this stable model.
14 lakhs of assistance so far
The government’s incentives include the purchase of domestic cows, buying plastic drums, and sowing seeds for crops such as wheat, peas, soybeans, black gram, copper and fatty millet. Officials said 75 per cent subsidy was received on the purchase of plastic drums. Of this, about 1,500 farmers have already provided financial assistance of Rs 13.35 lakh.
