Is 1 rupee crop insurance scheme closed due to fake claims? 15 crores suspected

The 1 rupee crop insurance scheme launched by the Maharashtra government is now closed with the aim of providing financial stability to Maharashtra farmers. It will be modified. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said this during a conversation with the media. In this scheme, farmers have to pay only 1 rupee as a premium and the rest of the money is given in the form of subsidy in the form of insurance companies so that farmers can take advantage of insurance in case of emergency.

After the implementation of the insurance scheme, there is a huge increase in the number of applications compared to previous years. According to the year 2024 data, more than 5 lakh applications were received.

The crop insurance scandal of Dharashiv district

A case came to light in Dharashiv district, in which a total of 1160 farmers made fake applications. A total of 2994 hectares of land was shown in these applications, in fact the land was purchased by the Maharashtra government for various purposes. This includes Jalasinchan Pond, forest department, teaching department and government lawn land. These were claimed under 1 rupee crop insurance scheme.

In Dharashiv district, 1160 farmers applied for a premium of Rs 1170, instead of granting Rs 3,13,71,635 to the insurance company. If there is an insurance suit for fake farmers, then about Rs 15 crore 70 lakhs. In this case, a case has been registered in the district of Dharasiv.

The scandal has booked a total of 24 CSC center drivers, including CSC Centers of Beed, Nanded, Solapur and Dharashive districts. The charge sheet police have filed in this case, but so far information about any concrete actions has been publicized.

Case Study: Group number 140, Dharashiv

The land of Gut No. 140 of Dharashiv district was actually purchased for a multipurpose school. On this, a man named ‘Chat’ applied for a false claim of soybean cultivation in 3 hectares of 94R land. In fact, the school building is standing on the earth today, and former chief minister Eknath Shinde, Uddav Thackeray and then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis rallies are placed on the ground.

The insurance scheme has been canceled due to such large -scale fake applications, manipulations and economic burden on the government. According to the new government instructions, farmers will now pay a 2% premium on the kharif crop, 1.5% on rabi crops and 5% for cash crops.

The Maharashtra government, which is facing allegations of manipulations, fake arguments and financial burdens, canceled the 1 rupee crop insurance scheme launched two years ago. Now the old scheme will be replaced instead of “Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme”.

Both the Center and the State give money in this scheme

The Mahathi government launched a 1 rupee crop insurance scheme in 2023, in which the farmers had to pay only 1 rupee premium and the rest of the government would bear the remaining amount. For this reason, there was a huge increase in the number of applicants compared to previous years, and in 2024-25 there were more than 5.82 lakh fake arguments.

Last year, the government (both state and the center) gave Rs 7,539 crore for the Kharif season (which includes the Center Rs 3,060 crore and the state Rs 4,479 crore) and the Rabi season Rs 1,684 crore (Rs 643 crore through the Center and Rs 1,040 crore).

Different increase in the number of applicants. 3.80 lakhs in 2023-24 and 5.82 lakh fake arguments in 2024-25 were found in investigation. Many of the vacant public lands for crop insurance have also been recorded, which leads to further. Therefore, it is decided to completely abolish the 1 rupee plan.

Social activist Anil Jagtap said that the scheme was stopped in the name of fraud, which was questioned by social activist Anil Jagtop’s government’s decision, “It is unfair to close the entire scheme in the name of the fake scheme.

When applying under the scheme, the relevant insurance companies will check the form, Jagtap said. If there is a fake suit on a land, it can be caught at the same time. “When the farmer sows, he needs seeds, fertilizers and money at the same time. At the same time the forms are filled for crop insurance. In such a situation, the closure of the scheme will cause a huge financial loss to the farmers.”

The Maharashtra government has claimed that some CSC center drivers have registered fake arguments on Devasthan, public land, forest land and other government assets. But the mechanism can be strengthened to prevent these frauds, the plan is not a solution. Now, according to new instructions, farmers are mandatory for kharif crops, 1.5% for rabi and 5% for cash crops. This increased burden becomes a matter of concern for small farmers. Jagtop demanded strict action against the accused and the scheme should be resumed and the necessary farmers should be given its benefit.

Farmers calculate the shock by promising

Dharashiv MP Omraj said these schemes should not be closed due to fraud. There are many options for the government, from which fraud can be stopped. I have banned this decision by the government. The government is making such efforts to cope with the lives of farmers and they commit suicide. How the government works before the elections and how its attitude will change after the election, which is now coming to the attention of the farmers.

The MP said that it was not just one election, but many more elections. The government should seriously consider such decisions. In the upcoming election, people will definitely think about those who withdraw from such promises and who are accurately counting. The government said during the election that the farmers’ debt would be forgiven. But the debt has not been forgiven so far, the anti -scheme is closed.

He said the schemes should not be stopped due to fraud. There are many options for the government, from which fraud can be stopped. What is a fraudless scheme? The government should separate them and the farmers’ plan should not be stopped.

MP and MLA protested against closing the scheme

MLA Kailas Patil said, “A rupee crop insurance scheme was closed yesterday in the Maharashtra Cabinet and it was once again revealed that it was the election Jumla.” Prior to the election, the government had paid the scheme given to the farmers and placed it on the back, but as soon as the elections were over, they started to stop the same plan.

Patil said the scheme is being stopped by giving the cause of fraud, but the government should take strict action against it and not stop some improvement and plan in the scheme. It made it clear that it was an election jumla and cheated the farmers.

By talking to the opposition, we went on the road and forbid it. In the reforms that are taking place today, crop harvesting and admission revenue is very low. Crop cutting insurance companies are taking advantage of. The government accepts this. But farmers are not available after closing the scheme, no matter what the farmers are based on natural disaster or local damage. The insurance company benefits only according to the cutting of the crop. After closing the plan, it proves that the election is Jumla.(Ganesh Subhash Jadhav Report)
