Soybean can be sown in 3.6 lakh hectares
The Telangana government hopes to increase soybean to 3.6 lakh hectares from 1.61 lakh hectares of seeds last year. Agriculture Minister Tum-Mala Nageshwar Rao held a review meeting with officials for preparations for the Kharif season and asked them to set up enough seeds. Telangana requires 16.7 lakh quintal rice seeds, 4.8 lakh quintal maize seeds, 1.35 lakh quintal soybean seeds and 89 lakh packets (450 grams) cotton seeds. Officials have informed that 2.4 crore packets of cotton seed will be provided.
Philippines exported to rice
At the same time, Telangana exported large rice goods to the Philippines on Monday. This cargo is 12,500 tonnes. There is rice in the surplus near Telangana. State Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy flagged a ship carrying rice from Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh.
The state earns Rs 45 crore from this commodity. According to the report, the Philippines demanded one lakh tonnes of rice and eight lakh tonnes of rice. After checking the quality of rice in Telangana, a senior state official said that the Philippines government was interested in buying rice from here.
