In the digital survey conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, interesting information about crop data in the country has been revealed. The central government conducted a digital survey on three lakh villages. These villages come under 435 districts of 14 states. The whole work has been completed by the government under its prestigious program Digital Crop Survey (DCS). Experts are great for its results by the time of the coming.

Reached 20.0 lakh hectare data

According to the newspaper The Hindu Businessline report, at least 23 million plots of the survey were included in three lakh villages. According to the results, the crop sector has increased by 19 percent. This number is more acres than manually survey. Now the district of those states has not yet been placed in the DCS.

According to a survey conducted in 21 districts, the additional secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Pramod Kumar Mehraada, said that the area had increased by 18.93 per cent in the last kharif season, which had reached 20.9 lakh hectares. This number is in the traditional system of collecting information in 16.8 lakh hectares.

Rice, sugar cane and peanut area also increased

According to the ministry, the paddy area increased by 14 per cent in the 2024 kharif session. Speaking of sugar cane, this number is 48 percent and 111 percent per peanut. Types of small millet such as Kakun also expanded 8 thousand 500 hectares and the area in Kodo increased in 32 thousand 900 hectares. These are Millet’s stories, which do not pay much attention.

According to experts, data should be re -verified after the digital survey, especially in areas with little disturbance in manually and digital data collection. Experts say that the digital survey is good, but the manual data collection should continue for the next few years until the credibility of digital data is proved.

The goal of 2025 has been determined

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture is constantly engaged in expanding DCs, Meharda said. The ministry plans to take this prestigious initiative to take at least one district in every district and other states of all large states during the 2025 Kharif season. The initiative is running under the Government Digital Agricultural Mission. With the help of the initiative, the Agriculture Secretary told the newspaper that a detailed source for sowing the crop is being made at the national level.

What is the purpose of DCS

After the involvement of technology, Meharda has a lot of expectations about the future of DCs. With this help, he said that the database of every small and large information about the crop can be made. It is also used as training data of machine learning patterns. Meherda said that DCs can use a crop survey, explore the health of the crop and facilitate AI through satellite images.
