Dholpur’s potato punch Gaurav Yojana, the farmers and the district became a new hope

Potato: In the Rajasthan government, ‘Punch Gaurav Yojana’ is belonging to the Dhelpur district. The decision has been taken over the last five years in view of the bumper yields of potato in the district. This phase helps to accelerate the agricultural development of the district, increase the income of farmers, increase employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy. At the same time, it also strives to strengthen the financial situation of the farmers.
Why is Dhelpur’s potato special?
The climate in the Dhelpur district and the soil potato cultivation are very favorable. That is why high quality white potatoes are planted here. Demand for this potato is not only in the domestic market, but also large companies like PepsiCo to make chips.
In the data
In the year 2022-23, the potato was grown in 6,366 hectares and produced 1,26,110 tonnes.
In 2023-24, 1,09,370 tonnes of potatoes were produced in 5,521 hectares.
What is the purpose of Punch Gaurav Yojana?
The goal of this scheme is to improve the financial situation of the farmers, provide technical assistance and promote modern farming practices. Under this:
- 250 farmers are sent to Shimla for training.
- The total amount of 5 crores will be spent in the next 5 years (₹ 1 crore each year).
- Farmers are provided with disease-resistant and high production seeds.
- Incentives are provided to adopt methods such as drip irrigation.
- Organic and durable agriculture is promoted.

Get potato processing and marketing power
Now not only potato cultivation, but also the processing units and the marketing associated with it will be given special importance. Under this, units of potato chips, starch and other products are installed. Small industries are given technical assistance and training to the public. Farmers can sell their products through major commercial platforms and supermarket chains.
Young people get employment
The Dhelpur district currently has 35 cold storage, which are rich in potatoes. The establishment of processing units and small scale industries provides employment opportunities to local youth. It also reduces the problem of labor immigration.
Encouraging women and self -Help groups
Under this scheme, female entrepreneurs and self -Help groups are also encouraging, thereby increasing the participation in potato production and processing.
District administration
Dholpur district collector Srinidhi BT has informed the district that the district will receive unprecedented benefits from the scheme. It develops agricultural -based small scale industries and promotes local trade. Also, concrete measures are taken to make Dolpur a major hub for potato production and processing.
