269 farmers committed suicide in three months in Marathwada, Maharashtra

The old ranks of the old farmers in Maharashtra continue to be the name of the suicide, which is not yet taken to stop. The state is suffering from drought and in many parts, heavy rains, floods, and other seasonal conditions such as hail. Crops can damage the lives of farmers by damaging the crops. Meanwhile, government data showed that 269 farmers committed suicide in the Marathwada area of the state from January 2025 to 2025, and 204 farmers committed suicide in three months last year. There are eight districts in this region in Central Maharashtra, which is considered a semi -dry region due to lack of water due to low rainfall and a change in monsoon. The report states that there is a significant increase in farmers’ suicides in Beed district. In January-March 2024, 44 farmers committed suicide alone in Beed, and 71 farmers committed suicide in the first three months of this year.
Farmers committed suicide in these districts
In the first three months of 2024, 204 farmers committed suicide in Marathwada, and the number of farmers who committed suicide in January-March has reached 65 to 269. The report gave farmers’ suicide (January-March 2025) in Marathwada. Of this, 71 farmers committed suicide in Beed, 50 in Chhatrapati Sambhajanagar, 37 in Nanded, 33, 33 in Parbhani, 31 in Latur, 18 in Hingoli and 13 in Jalna.
King Shetty raised questions on the Mahathi government
Former Lok Sabha MP and Shetkari Sangatan Raju Shetty has demanded that the BJP -led Mahathi government be targeted by farmers’ suicides. He said the government had promised to give up the debt of state farmers in the Assembly election campaign last year, but they did not do so. It’s like cheating farmers. He considered the reasons for the suicide of small and marginal farmers.
Cotton-Soybean’s yield decreased: enemy
Shetty said the yield of hectares for crops such as cotton and soybean was reduced. On the other hand, the cost of the input of these crops has increased. Speaking of Soybean, Maharashtra farmers have lost around Rs 8,500 crore last season because they sold their crop for Rs 1,200 per quintal.
